JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled HR Compliance Manager to oversee and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws across multiple states. The ideal candidate will possess an in-depth understanding of HR policies, labor regulations, and compliance requirements, along with the ability to manage complex projects and collaborate effectively across diverse teams. This is a high-level role that requires strategic thinking, meticulous attention to detail, and a proactive approach to HR risk management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Equivalent of experience can be considered.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of HR compliance experience, with a strong focus on multi-state operations.
- Demonstrated expertise in federal and state employment laws, including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, and others.
- Demonstrated expertise in minor labor regulations and meal/rest break policy.
- Experience in leading investigations and resolving complex compliance issues.
- SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or other relevant certifications a plus.
- Specialized training or certification in labor law or compliance is a plus.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Regulatory Compliance:
- Monitor and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws, including but not limited to wage and hour laws, anti-discrimination regulations, and employee safety standards.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of multi-state labor laws and regulations, keeping abreast of any changes or updates.
- Implement and enforce policies and procedures that comply with relevant employment laws across multiple jurisdictions.
Policy Development and Implementation:
- Create, update, and manage HR policies and employee handbooks to align with legal requirements and best practices.
- Conduct regular reviews and audits of HR processes and documentation to ensure compliance and address gaps or risks.
Training and Communication:
- Design and deliver training programs for HR staff and managers on compliance-related topics, including anti-discrimination, harassment prevention, and workplace safety.
- Act as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders, providing guidance on complex compliance matters.
HR Risk Management:
- Conduct internal audits to identify and mitigate compliance risks.
- Lead investigations into compliance issues, ensuring thorough documentation and resolution with partnership with P&C managers.
- Collaborate with legal counsel and external auditors as needed to address compliance concerns.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of compliance activities, including training sessions, audits, and investigations.
- Prepare regular reports for senior leadership, highlighting compliance risks, activities, and achievements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner with HR, Legal, Finance, and Operations teams to ensure seamless implementation of compliance initiatives.
- Support M&A activities by conducting due diligence and integrating acquired entities into compliance frameworks.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- This position requires the ability to remain stationary at desk for extended periods of time, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- This position also requires the ability to move around as needed to support operations when travelling and in the field, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Compensation range is $85-90k/yr + bonus based on qualifications, experience, and performance. Full-time employees at Sky Zone enjoy a competitive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage along with a 401k plan with company matching. Eligibility for 401k is based on age and tenure requirements.
