WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are seeking a driven and experienced Senior Cloud Database & Datastore Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our team and play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of our critical cloud databases and datastores. This is a remote position, working alongside our cloud and site reliability engineers across NA, EMEA, and APJ. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining highly available and secure database infrastructure on AWS using tools like Terraform and Cloudformation. You will also be involved in developing automation solutions to streamline infrastructure provisioning and configuration management, ensuring efficient and reliable operations.

  • DB: Dynamo, Redshift, Postgres, Mongo, Redis, MySQL

  • Languages: Python, Java, JS

YOUR DAY TO DAY

  • Participate in rotating 2nd level on-call approximately 20% of working time. 

  • Participate in initiatives & projects to continually improve the infrastructure approximately 80% of the time.

  • Improve on alerting signal to noise by focusing on services and business metrics over individual hosts.

  • Proactively research potential problems before they arise.

  • Work closely with managers and team on opportunities for monitoring, alerting and trending improvements as well as runbook and troubleshooting documentation.

  • Manage incidents and implement changes following Tealium’s Agile/ITIL processes.

  • Design, deploy, and manage highly available and scalable cloud-based databases and datastores (RDS - Postgres, MySQL, Redshift, Kafka, DynamoDB, etc.) on AWS.

  • Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform and Cloudformation to automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management.

  • Implement continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) Jenkins pipelines for infrastructure changes.

  • Develop and maintain monitoring and alerting solutions to proactively identify and resolve database-related issues.

  • Collaborate with database administrators and application developers to optimize database performance and troubleshoot complex issues.

  • Perform capacity planning and scaling activities to ensure databases meet performance requirements.

  • Stay up-to-date on the latest cloud technologies and best practices for database management and SRE.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of disaster recovery and business continuity plans for databases.

  • Participate in on-call rotations and actively contribute to incident resolution and post-mortem analysis.

WHAT YOU BRING TO TEALIUM

  • Minimum of 5+ years experience as a Site Reliability Engineer or Database Administrator with a strong focus on cloud technologies.

  • Proven experience with AWS cloud services, including EC2, RDS, Redshift, Kafka, DynamoDB, S3, VPCs, and IAM.

  • Extensive knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform and Cloudformation.

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools like Jenkins, Ansible, or Azure DevOps.

  • Solid understanding of database concepts, including schema design, indexing, query optimization, and performance tuning.

  • Experience with monitoring and alerting tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and Datadog.

  • Experience with scripting languages like Python, Bash, or Go.

  • Preferred experience with kubernetes and containerization technologies.

  • Preferred experience with data warehousing and analytics platforms.

  • Preferred experience with data security & privacy best practices for cloud environments.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to take ownership of problems, drive solutions, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

WAGE TRANSPARENCY

In many U.S. states, employers are required to include a pay range for posted positions. Although this isn't a requirement in every state, communicating transparently is a cornerstone of our operations at Tealium, and we believe in making this information available to all applicants.

The U.S. pay range for this full-time position is listed below, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to a competitive base salary, this position is eligible for a robust benefits package that includes the following:

  • Employees are eligible to receive an annual bonus and stock options. 

  • Employees and their families are eligible for medical, dental, vision,  life, and disability insurance. 

  • Employees have the option to enroll in our 401k plan and are eligible to receive contributions for company matching.

  • Employees are eligible for flexible paid time-off and extended paid parental leave. 

  • We offer 11 paid holidays annually with an additional Healium Be-Well break for most employees.

  • We offer 15 hours of paid work time for volunteer activities and programs. 

  • Our sick leave accrual is the following for our employees:

    • Exempt CA employees (not including San Francisco) including NY : accrue 40 hours each year. Unused sick leave carries over into the next year. Employees cannot exceed 80 hours in a given year.

    • Exempt Non - CA employees (not including NY) including SF: Accrue 1 hour every 30 hours worked. Cannot exceed 180 hours in the calendar year.

    • Non-Exempt: accrue 1 hour every 30 hours worked. Unused carries over to the next year. Not to exceed 108 hours in a calendar year.

Compensation Range: $130,000 - $180,000 Base + Variable
