About the Role
The Research Fellow will undertake research examining social dimensions of healthcare, with a focus on social interaction. The Research Fellow will primarily work on the project “Understanding communication about advance care planning across the lifespan”, funded by the Australian Research Council (reference: DP240100072), working under the broad direction of the Chief Investigator.
In this role you will undertake day-to-day fieldwork data collection at Children’s Health Queensland and Metro South Hospital and Health Services in Brisbane and actively contribute to the research project by collaborating with the Research Team to successfully deliver project milestones and Key Performance Indicators. You will also independently contribute to the planning and execution of research by offering new and innovative ideas, reviewing relevant literature and other sources of information, actively participating in the production of data, contributing to the writing and editing of grant applications and attending seminars, meetings and conferences.
About You
With a demonstrated ability to coordinate, plan and execute project tasks, you will have proven experience playing a lead role in the development of reports and production of manuscripts suitable for publication in high quality journals. Your high-level communication skills and collaborative nature will ensure you establish and maintain collaborations within the University, and at State, national and international levels in order to improve research outputs, patents and publications.
Your contributions to ethical, high quality and innovative research and evaluation through activities such as scholarship, publishing in recognised high quality journals and assisting the preparation and submission of bids for external research funding will be invaluable in this role and it is expected that you will have previous experience supervising honours and post graduate research projects

Prescribed Conditions for Employment
At least for the duration of the fieldwork component of the project, this position involves working remotely from Flinders University campuses. During this time, the appointee will need to be based in Brisbane. A suitable working environment will be negotiated with the appointee and Brisbane institutions collaborating on the project
A valid Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check which is satisfactory to the University will be required by Flinders University before the successful applicant can commence in this position.
In addition, it is a requirement of this position that the incumbent maintain a current Working With Children Check which is satisfactory to the University in accordance with the Child Safety (Prohibited Persons) Act 2016 (SA) and for the relevant state where the position is operating.
Staff working in a health care setting are strongly recommended to be fully vaccinated against COVID in line with the SA Health policy or the relevant state where the position is operating.
