Department: Finance 

Reporting to: Credit Control Manager 

Type:  Contract until August 2025 

Location: London

The Finance team is predominantly based in London with regional staff located in Spain, USA and Mainland China.

This is an exciting opportunity to join GSMA, an industry organisation representing the interests of the largest mobile network operators globally, whilst also hosting some of the largest mobile communications events such as Mobile World Congress Barcelona.  

 

This is a varied role that offers the opportunity to work for a leading brand representing some of the largest mobile operators globally alongside a dedicated team, with a global client base encompassing a broad range of products and services. The seasonal nature of our business also means an interesting and varied role throughout the year. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

 

  • Responsible for the collection of multi-currency invoices with varying payment terms from a wide selection of debtors, ranging from large multinational and blue-chip organisations through to small start-up clients  

  • Monitoring outstanding balances and ensuring timely collection of payments using a variety of payment methods 

  • Assess collectability of debt and monitor cash collections, advising the Credit Control Manager on potential bad debt to minimise bad debt risk to the business  

  • Act as a Credit Control Lead for specific lines of business within the organisation 

  • Build and maintain relationships with clients including attending meetings to facilitate a greater efficiency in payments and query resolution 

  • Working closely with internal stakeholders to investigate, manage and resolve all disputes quickly and efficiently to collect funds and improve the customer journey and experience 

  • Ensure compliance with the company credit policies, business processes and audit requirements  

  • Ensuring all credit control activities comply with relevant laws and regulations, company credit policies, business processes and audit requirements. 

  • Gather quantifying data and generate reports to assist in cash collection and identifying problem areas 

  • Identify and recommend opportunities for improvement in existing procedures and processes consistent with company policies and procedures 

  • Prepare periodic and ad-hoc reporting for management at month end and as requested 

  • Any other departmental duties as required 

 

Skills and Qualifications: 

 

  • Previous experience in the Credit Control function. 

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with clients and internal teams. Proficient English communication skills, both oral and written required. 

  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess creditworthiness and resolve issues. 

  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail when managing accounts and preparing reports. 

  • Negotiation Skills: Effective negotiation skills to handle and resolve disputes with clients. 

  • IT Proficiency: Proficient in using financial software and databases, as well as Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel. Experience with Workday is a plus. 

  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple accounts and tasks simultaneously. 

  • Knowledge: Good understanding of relevant legislation, regulations, and best practices in credit management.
