The Opportunity

This position works out of our Columbus, OH location in the Nutrition Division. In Research & Development, our ambition is providing innovative high-quality products, creating sustainable value, delivering superior user experience, and enhancing health outcomes at all stages of life. 

Primary Function:

  • Lead the technical development of products of low-medium complexity and/or support the technical development of products of medium to high complexity.
  • The primary responsibility will be executing studies, data evaluation and report writing in support of regulatory filings and product commercialization.

What You’ll Work On

  • Plan and execute experimental designs of low to medium complexity to optimize the physical, nutrient, and sensory properties of products while adhering to relevant internal and external constraints.
  • Identify and evaluate new ingredients for nutritional formulations.
  • Develop prototypes to support pre-clinical and clinical studies.
  • Interpret test results, create action plans, communicate through verbal updates and written reports.
  • Interact regularly with cross-functional business teams including Marketing, Operations, Quality, Purchasing, Regulatory and Legal. May lead or support project Technical Team meetings.


Required Qualifications

  • PhD Food Science/Nutrition/Engineering or related scientific field with 0-3 years of practical related experience.
  • BS/MS with 5+ years progressive and practical related experience sufficient to demonstrate equivalency.

Preferred

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with desire and ability to work within a highly collaborative environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with data analysis and ability to communicate technical results to technical and non-technical audience.
  • Knowledge of food chemistry, ingredient interactions, food processing, and product development.
  • Experience with intact and hydrolyzed proteins, emulsions, and spray dried powders.
  • Understanding how to translate formulations and processes from small-scale lab work to full production.
  • Experience in managing timelines and ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Travel 0-10%
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time (up to 6 -8 hours) and lift 25-50 lbs.
  • This is an on-site role - not a remote role.

The base pay for this position is

$66,700.00 – $133,300.00
