Job description

At Beyond, we power the business of Short Term Rentals through our cutting-edge, full-stack Revenue Management System. Venture-backed, we pioneered this space and have grown to be the globally dominant leader - obsessed with delivering value and performance to our customers. And the way we've been able to achieve those heights is our belief that People are the most important part of any business - starting with ours. We employ over 170 Beyonders across the globe who share in our commitment to making Beyond the best place to work.

It’s with that in mind that Beyond is looking to add a Software Engineer, Dev Support to our growing team. You will have the opportunity to investigate, resolve, and prevent data mismatches while collaborating with various teams to enhance system reliability and customer experience. Because you will be working with a successful team that is completely remote, excellent coding and communication skills are key. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys digging into complex systems, identifying root causes, and making impactful improvements. If you enjoy rolling up your sleeves and jumping in, then read on!

Before reading further...

Beyond is passionate about diversity and cultivating our team’s potential. If you’re hungry for a good opportunity, but don't meet every point in this job description, please apply anyway!

The Engineering team believes in:

  • Reducing scope - The best way to control progress and test hypotheses is to prevent scope creep;
  • Shipping early - Learning happens faster when we ship sooner, even if it’s not perfect;
  • Iterating and improving - Feedback fuels better solutions, and we continuously enhance our work and practices;
  • Taking ownership - We stand by the code we ship because we know it best;
  • Delivering value - By focusing on providing exceptional customer experiences, we improve acquisition and retention and drive revenue.

As our Software Engineer, Dev Support, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Working closely with data visualization, product, and support teams to investigate and address issues with data accuracy and consistency.
  • Building, maintaining, and refining observability, monitoring, and alerting systems to improve issue detection and resolution.
  • Supporting, troubleshooting, and optimizing large-scale datasets, ensuring efficient handling of complex queries and data pipelines.
  • Contributing to engineering best practices, such as pairing, code reviews, refactoring, and collective code ownership, while leveraging tools like containers, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), and CI/CD.

So what kind of person are we looking for in this role? The person who will be successful in this role will be:

  • Curious: You are driven to understand how things work, identify why they don’t, and investigate where data is coming from. You are interested in finding out how your work impacts our customers and the real-world impact.
  • Collaborative: You enjoy exploring and committing as a team, you welcome others' ideas, and you value teamwork and team decision-making over being right and having things your way.
  • Result-oriented: You are dedicated to ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the data users depend on. You take a thoughtful approach to investigating and resolving issues while managing trade-offs between speed and quality, knowing that maintaining trust in our data is essential to delivering value.
  • Resilient: You adapt to changing needs, roll up your sleeves to assist others, and operate with a steady, dependable pace—even in the face of change.

Now that we’ve told you what the job looks like, here are the qualifications we're looking for in a candidate:

  • 3+ years of experience writing and supporting software in SaaS environments.
  • Expertise in Python and SQL, and working with large datasets
  • Familiarity with observability tools and practices to monitor and improve system reliability.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL, Spark, Clickhouse, DeltaLake or React is a plus
  • A proactive, curious mindset suited for a fast-paced environment where we put an emphasis on delivering value for our customers while learning, growing, and experimenting

So what can you expect after you apply? Your application will be personally reviewed by a member of the Beyond hiring team and if there is a match in your experience and the role, you will:

  • Have a video conversation with someone on our Recruiting team. This is a high-level conversation about your experience and interest, but also an opportunity for you to learn more about us
  • Interview with an Engineering Director
  • Complete a Technical Challenge
  • Complete an Architecture Interview with a panel of engineers
  • Interview with our VP of Engineering
