VP & GM, Managed Services Provider
We are an emerging Managed Security Services (MSS) and Managed Services Provider (MSP) business seeking a hands-on leader to define, validate, and scale our service offerings. As VP/GM, you’ll spearhead the go-to-market (GTM) strategy, develop a sustainable lead source, and refine solutions based on customer feedback. Success requires P&L management, lean processes, and team leadership in cybersecurity, cloud, and IT infrastructure.
Responsible Outcomes:
Joint GTM & Lead Source
- Develop a cohesive GTM plan, integrating partner channels and marketing funnels for consistent, qualified leads.
- Refine MVP offerings through market feedback, ensuring alignment with core client needs.
Validate MSP/MSS Offering
- Acquire early-adopter customers to pilot services and rapidly iterate solutions.
- Deliver 1–2 MVPs showcasing clear ROI and shaping our service roadmap.
Revenue Growth & Market Penetration
- Drive double-digit annual revenue growth by expanding into target segments (SMB, mid-market, enterprise).
- Strengthen sales and marketing alignment to efficiently convert leads into paying customers.
Operational Excellence & Scalability
- Maintain SLA and security benchmarks with agile, ITIL-informed processes.
- Optimize operations for fast scaling, ensuring robust incident response and minimal downtime.
Financial Performance & Burn Management
- Own the P&L, monitoring budgets, cost discipline, and cash flow.
- Evaluate service viability quickly, pivoting or discontinuing offerings if traction is limited.
Customer Satisfaction & Market Reputation
- Deliver high-touch support and proactive service to earn strong NPS and retention.
- Position the MSP as a trusted partner in managed IT, cybersecurity, and cloud infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
GTM Strategy & Lead Source
- Architect and execute the GTM plan, balancing quick wins with long-term positioning.
- Collaborate with marketing/channels to create joint offerings and sharpen messaging.
Service Delivery & Portfolio Management
- Oversee day-to-day managed IT services (infrastructure, security, cloud), ensuring SLA compliance.
- Implement lightweight processes that enable rapid pivots based on customer needs.
Financial Stewardship & Resource Allocation
- Continuously refine financial models, tracking ROI and overhead efficiency.
- Strictly manage burn rate, proactively cutting unproductive spend to preserve profitability.
Team Leadership & Culture
- Recruit and mentor top-tier talent, fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.
- Define clear metrics tied to early milestones, keeping the team focused on growth targets.
Market Research & Competitive Positioning
- Track industry trends in cybersecurity, cloud, and IT automation to differentiate our solutions.
- Seek strategic partnerships (vendors, resellers) that accelerate brand visibility and market share.
Executive Collaboration & Reporting
- Provide data-driven updates on traction, pivots, and resource needs to the President and stakeholders.
- Ensure cross-functional alignment (product, marketing, finance) for cohesive execution.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 10+ years in MSP/MSS or IT services; proven track record of launching or scaling solutions in dynamic markets.
- Technical Acumen: Deep knowledge of cloud computing, cybersecurity, network infrastructure; ITIL familiarity preferred.
- Financial Expertise: Skilled in P&L management, forecasting, and burn discipline in early-stage or high-growth settings.
- Sales & Marketing Savvy: Adept at designing GTM strategies and cultivating leads from scratch.
- Leadership: Builds high-performance teams, embedding a customer-first mindset.
- Adaptability: Thrives in ambiguity; iterates swiftly based on feedback and market shifts.
