Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Tech Writer/Editor to join our team! In this role you will get to help ensure security installation projects run smoothly and meet their objectives.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Handles a variety of writing and editing tasks for proposals, presentations, reports, newsletters, websites, multimedia resources, marketing materials, and other documents.
- Works independently and collaborates with senior writers/editors to complete assignments.
- Manages production schedules and ensures tasks are completed on time.
- Proofreads and edits drafts for spelling, grammar, clarity, and formatting consistency.
- Assists in resolving production issues within set deadlines and provides guidance to junior team members as needed
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Proofreads and performs a variety of writing and editing tasks, including formatting and stylesheet verification, copy editing, rewriting, revising, writing, and production planning.
- Ensures that all assigned documents comply with required presentation standards, proper use of paragraph headings and numbering, accurate referencing of illustrative and tabular matter, and adherence to bibliographic styles.
- Maintains consistency in the use of technical abbreviations and acronyms, figure and table callouts and captions, and boilerplate materials.
- Plans, schedules, and coordinates the editing, proofreading, and production workflow for assigned projects.
- Provides solutions for workflow issues, both immediate and long-term.
- Offers technical guidance to team members to ensure the successful completion of assignments.
- Trains newly hired and temporary staff on required formats, standards, production methods, and procedures.
- Reviews completed work to ensure it meets company standards.
- Assists authors and requestors with cost and time estimates, production plans, delivery schedules, and coordination with other technical publications units.
- Contributes to the development and implementation of standard procedures.
- Establishes and maintains a reference library.
- Tracks production and budget statistics.
- Collaborates with various business units to manage workload and provide assistance as needed.
- Keeps up-to-date with current technology and trends through trade journals, publications, and seminars.
- Works both independently and as part of a team to meet scheduled deadlines.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, English/Journalism, or related field (or equivalent) and typically 3+ years of related work experience, experience of proofreading and editing all facets of technical engineering publications, specifications, and proposals from rough draft through print-ready preferred.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
- US Citizenship
- Minimum of a SECRET level clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred
- Excellent written and oral communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency in keyboard skills and a working knowledge of MS Windows and related software including Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, and Adobe InDesign.
- Accuracy, attention to detail, consistency, and clarity in conformance with required formats and standards.
- Thorough knowledge of production scheduling and related processes.

Salary Range:
$25.34 - $44.33
