Description

Job Title: Data Scientist, Mortgage Servicing Rights (MSR) Portfolio Retention Marketing

Position Overview
AmeriSave Mortgage is seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist with hands-on experience in mortgage servicing rights (MSR) portfolio retention marketing. In this role, you will leverage advanced data science and analytics methodologies to identify and engage homeowners in our MSR portfolio who have a high probability of needing a new mortgage or refinance. Your insights will shape marketing initiatives, optimize outreach timing, and maximize retention of our existing customers. This is a pivotal position that directly impacts our bottom line and customer experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Predictive Modeling & Data Analysis
    • Develop, implement, and maintain predictive models (e.g., logistic regression, random forest, gradient boosting) to identify high-value customers for refinance, cash-out refinance, or new home purchase loans.
    • Analyze credit data, market trends, and consumer behavior triggers (e.g., credit inquiries, utilization changes, home equity changes) to pinpoint opportunities for proactive outreach.
    • Conduct rigorous data exploration and hypothesis testing to continuously refine and improve model accuracy.
  • Marketing Insights & Strategy
    • Partner with marketing teams to create data-driven campaigns that target the right customers at the right time.
    • Provide recommendations on optimal contact frequency, channel preferences, and personalized messaging strategies.
    • Translate complex analytical findings into actionable marketing strategies, ensuring alignment with AmeriSave’s retention goals.
  • Data Pipeline & Infrastructure
    • Collaborate with Data Engineering teams to design and maintain scalable data pipelines that ingest, process, and store relevant credit and servicing data.
    • Ensure data integrity, consistency, and quality, and drive improvements in data governance practices.
    • Identify and recommend new data sources or enhancements to existing sources to strengthen predictive capabilities.
  • Performance Measurement
    • Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of retention marketing initiatives, such as conversion rates, ROI, and customer lifetime value.
    • Develop dashboards and automated reports to track ongoing performance, presenting clear insights to stakeholders.
    • Implement A/B or multivariate testing methodologies to evaluate campaign performance and model refinements.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Work closely with Product, Finance, and Sales teams to align retention strategies with broader business objectives.
    • Communicate findings and recommendations to executives and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring clarity and actionable next steps.
    • Provide subject matter expertise on data science best practices, emerging technologies, and mortgage industry trends.
Qualifications
  • Education & Experience
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
    •  3+ years of hands-on experience in data science, preferably within mortgage lending, financial services, or credit analytics.
    •  Direct experience with mortgage servicing rights (MSR) portfolio retention marketing is highly desired.
  • Technical Skills
    • Proficiency in Python or R for data analysis and machine learning.
    • Experience with SQL and working with large relational databases.
    • Hands-on experience with predictive modeling, machine learning algorithms, and statistical analysis.
    • Familiarity with credit bureau data and trigger-based marketing is a strong plus.
    • Experience with cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is beneficial.
  •  Soft Skills & Competencies
    • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
    • Excellent communication skills, able to distill complex analyses into clear, actionable insights.
