Role Summary
Sophos is seeking an experienced and dynamic Environmental Manager to lead our environmental program and initiatives. This role will focus exclusively on environmental responsibilities within the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) framework, with an emphasis on compliance, environmental strategy, and performance improvement. The Environmental Manager will play a pivotal role in defining and aligning our environmental goals with corporate strategy and regulatory requirements.
What You Will Do:Strategic Leadership: Develop, implement, and manage the company’s environmental strategy, ensuring alignment with corporate sustainability goals. Provide expertise and guidance on environmental issues to senior leadership, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental regulations, including the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), GHG protocols, and other applicable standards. Monitor regulatory changes and ensure timely adaptation of policies and practices to remain compliant. GHG and Environmental Data Management: Lead the measurement, reporting, and reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across the organization. Oversee the implementation of environmental data tracking software, ensuring accurate and efficient data management. Double Materiality Assessments: Conduct double materiality assessments to evaluate the company’s environmental impact and the impact of environmental factors on the business. Integrate findings into strategic planning and decision-making. Horizon Scanning and Innovation: Stay informed of emerging environmental trends, technologies, and regulations. Identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement in environmental practices. Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with internal departments (e.g., HR, Facilities, Supply Chain, Procurement, Product and IT) to gather environmental data and ensure cohesive implementation of initiatives. Collaborate with external partners, consultants, and stakeholders to enhance environmental performance. Respond to Environmental / Sustainability Questionnaires as required. Education and Engagement: Develop and deliver training programs to raise awareness and engagement around environmental initiatives. Act as an advocate for sustainability within the company, fostering a culture of environmental responsibility. Reporting and Metrics: Prepare and present regular reports on environmental performance to leadership and stakeholders. Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and track progress against environmental goals. What You Will Bring:Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field is a plus. Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental management or sustainability, with a proven track record of implementing successful environmental programs. Experience in GHG accounting, data management software implementation, and conducting materiality assessments is highly desirable. Professional certifications (e.g., Certified Environmental Manager) are a plus. Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, sustainability frameworks, and reporting standards (e.g., CSRD, GHG protocol). Excellent project management and organizational skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams.
