Job Description 

 

Summary/Objective 

As a Quality Assurance Manager (QAM), you will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of quality, compliance, and efficiency are maintained throughout our organization and you will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of our comprehensive quality assurance programs and Quality Management System (QMS). This is a Quality Assurance Manager position supporting all Business Units (People, Business, Program, Growth) and contracted programs. This individual will be responsible for leading Quality Program Team(s) (QPT). The QAM will lead this team through corporate functions, compliance, proposal efforts, program startup, and program execution. The QAM will be the lead Quality and Program Performance interface to the Proposal Managers, Program Managers, and Business Unit Leaders. The Quality Assurance Manager coordinates with other managers and key stakeholders to identify critical success factors, develop measurement systems, and implement continuous process improvement methodologies in quality control throughout our company. As the corporate Quality Manager, you will report directly to the Vice President of Growth and Program Operations. 

 

Essential Functions

  • Manages and coordinates activities and operations of quality assurance across the entire company and all programs. Co-responsible for the Internal Baseline Review (IBR) and program start-up activities with Program Management. Design, develop, and implement comprehensive quality assurance programs. Maintains, enforces, and measures quality assurance processes. Establishes Program Performance and Quality Metrics Program that are utilized by Senior Leadership to monitor program performance. Helps to improve CPAR scores and increases customer intimacy through relationships and performance. 
  • AS9100D Compliance and Certification: Serve as the primary point of contact for all matters related to AS9100D quality management system certification process and compliance. Leads the AS9100D certification with a third-party audit firm. Ensure that all processes and procedures align with the AS9100D standard and relevant industry regulations. 
  • Creates and revises quality plans, processes, procedures and work instructions as directed.  
  • Responsible for the strategic leadership and performance of several key areas of responsibility, including creating, establishing, and directing quality management plans for new development activities and existing activities to ensure quality compliance. Hires, trains, supervises, motivates, and develops Quality Engineer (QE) and QM staff as their direct supervisor.  Provides day-to-day guidance and oversight to the quality assurance team consisting of QE’s located at various program/customer locations across the globe. Provide development and training opportunities with team members. Keeps current of overall activities of the team, identifying problems areas and corrective actions as a Functional Manager.
  • Assures on-time delivery of new projects; ensures product quality, performance, and conformity with company established specifications. 
  • Responsible for the Counterfeit Prevention Program, Supplier Quality Program, requirements flow downs, across the business. 
  • Oversee the qualification and surveillance of suppliers to ensure their compliance with quality standards and contractual requirements. 
  • Understand and integrate the company’s vision, values, and strategic goals into quality management initiatives.
  • Proactively seek feedback and opportunities to align department actions with corporate priorities.

Competencies 

Required skills and abilities to effectively perform this position include, but are not limited to: 

  • Extensive experience with advanced Quality Engineering Tools: Utilize advanced quality engineering tools such as Formal Root Cause Analysis Methods, Statistical Process Control, Failure Modes Effect & Analysis (FMEA), Value Process Mapping, Fishbone Diagram, and Pareto analysis to identify areas for improvement and implement effective solutions. Greenbelt and Blackbelt Certifications preferred.  
  • Strong background in Lean Six Sigma methodologies and ability to apply Lean Six Sigma principles to streamline processes, eliminate waste, and improve overall operational efficiency within a services type of contract. 
  • Possess a deep understanding of Instructional Systems Development (ISD) methodologies to facilitate the development, measurement, quality, and delivery of military training programs. 
  • Previous experience in GovCon and DOD environments, with a deep knowledge of DOD training and instructional services.
  • Familiarity with risk management principles and PMP practices.  
  • Experience in Supplier Quality principles to support product and supplier risk management, qualification, surveillance, and execution. 
  • Proficient in requirements flow down and allocation at multiple tiers. 
  • Possess excellent technical writing skills. 
  • Able to utilize expertise to develop and deliver training programs related to DOD regulations, quality management, and process improvement. 
  • Must be results driven - Able to achieve multiple objectives/tasks concurrently.

Education and Experience  

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a relevant technical field. 
  • 5-8 years of experience as a Quality Assurance Manager or in a senior quality engineering role. 
  • Prior experience and knowledge of government contracting (GovCon) procedures and Department of Defense (DOD) regulations, including a strong familiarity with DOD contract requirements. 
  • Expert in ISO 9001:2015 and AS900D standards 

 

Preferred Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations 

  • AS9100D Auditor certification: Possess or work towards obtaining AS9100D Auditor certification to lead internal audits and assess the organization's compliance with AS9100D requirements. 
  • Control Account Manager - Earned Value Management 
  • Greenbelt (minimum) 

 

Supervisory Responsibility
This position manages and leads projects and teams from diverse disciplines. May directly manage quality engineers across multiple programs.  

 

Work Environment, Programs, and Tools 

This position operates in a remote office environment and requires an individual to walk, stand, sit, use hands/fingers to type, talk, listen and look. Reliable internet and connectivity to frequently meet on remote video platforms.   

 

Required knowledge of the following tools, equipment, and programs includes: laptop, phone, scanner/printer/fax, Google Suite applications such as Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Slides, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Adobe Creative Cloud, Sharepoint, MS Project, and Microsoft Office Suite with advanced skills in MS Word.  

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This position will be in Tampa, FL or Tallahassee, FL with a hybrid work from home/on-site schedule. This opportunity allows the employee to work at a designated office or job site as needed (1-2 days per week) and otherwise allows recurring telework.  

 

Core Business Hours: M-F; 8:30am - 4:30pm EST. 

 

Frequent visits with onsite leadership and customer personnel will require adherence to Government site hours of operation.   

 

This position is full time salaried exempt, expected to work no less than 80 hours a payroll period. This position may require evening/weekend work and work outside of the typical work hours as needed.   

 

Travel 

Must be able and willing to travel 20%+ to various locations. 

 

Security Clearance 

Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance.
