Accounting Manager

(Full-Time)

 

Location: New York City (currently working remotely) Must reside in the NY Tri-State area

Salary:  $105,000 - $120,000/yr. commensurate with experience

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual to join the Finance team based in our corporate headquarters in New York City.

About the Job

The Accounting Manager will report to the Director of Accounting. The role will be involved in various corporate accounting functions within our HQ office, ranging from review and approvals of transactions and regular monthly accounting processes to assisting with tax filings and financial reporting. This role will provide the chance for growth and learning opportunities for the right candidate, and is a new role created within the team due to growth of the company.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of the grant accounting functions, including proper revenue recognition of contributions and grants, tracking restrictions and releases, and recording related journal entries, as well as preparing reports for the development team.
  • Aid in annual audit process.
  • Review and approve transactions made by other members of the accounting team.
  • Prepare regular journal entries and reconciliations during the month and month-end close process.
  • Assist with various tax and compliance filings at both Federal and State levels.
  • Assists other team members in various accounting processes as needed.
  • Analyze various P&L and balance sheet accounts on regular basis.
  • Review and update internal control procedures regularly to ensure safeguarding of assets and proper reporting.
  • Ad-hoc projects as needed, such as helping update financial systems and processes.

  

You should have:

  • Minimum 4+ years of experience, working at a CPA firm specializing in NFP entities, or for a non-profit organization or lending institution in accounting.
  • Must know revenue recognition rules for non-profit organizations relating to grants and contributions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related major.
  • CPA highly preferred.
  • Committed team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with and interest in technological methods for improving workflows and increasing productivity.
  • Very strong Excel skills.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP.
  • Experience with Intacct accounting system a plus.

Travel: Attendance at quarterly staff meetings in New York City is required, about three days each quarter.
