Job Description:
As a Technical Editor Senior, you will be trusted to research, analyze, and create technical documentation such as end user guides, process/procedure documentation, training materials, and technical communications. An attention to detail and correct usage of formatting, grammar, and spelling is a must. This position also requires a strong ability to learn quickly and understand technical language and terminology around the products and systems being supported, in particular virtual private network tools (e.g., Zscaler). The successful candidate must be able to work independently in a team environment and be flexible around evolving needs while managing both schedule and overall commitments in order to meet project deliverables.
This is a remote position (centered in the DC-MD-VA area).
In this role, a typical day will include:
- Researching and compiling technical data for use in various operations and maintenance manuals, training materials, system design documents, and other technical documentation.
- Obtaining data from review of documentation, interviews with client and project personnel (SMEs), drawings, schematics, reports, and the study of published material.
- Researching and gathering technical and background information for inclusion in project documentation and deliverables.
- Developing outlines and drafts for review and approval by technical specialists and stakeholders ensuring that final documents meet applicable contract requirements and regulations.
- Translating technical information into clear, readable documentation to be used by both technical and non-technical users. Documentation may include technical documents, business proposals, memos, reports, user manuals, knowledge base articles, status reporting, briefings and presentations, functional descriptions, system specifications, guidelines, special reports, and other project deliverables to meet contract requirements.
- Creating documentation specifically tailored for this program, including standard operating procedures and user guides for a VPN solution.
- Organizing and maintaining documents in a documentation repository.
- Proofreading and providing feedback on materials prepared by peers.
- Maintaining current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.
- May involve some supervisory/task lead responsibilities.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, professional training, and work experience.
- 5+ years of related experience preparing technical documentation.
- Security Clearance Level: Ability to earn Public Trust
- Excellent writing/editing skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior experience with tools and technical documentation for a VPN solution (Zscaler-specific experience preferred).
- Familiarity with remediation of technical documentation to comply with accessibility standards such as 508 compliance.
- Familiarity with SharePoint and version control procedures.
- Familiarity with agile approaches such as scrum and SAFe are highly desired.
- Experience with Confluence preferred.
- Experience with Power Apps/Power Automate is a plus.
- Experience/background within the healthcare industry and/or government contracting is desirable.

The likely salary range for this position is $72,509 - $87,975. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
