Job description

Overview:

SageSure, a leader in catastrophe-exposed property insurance, is seeking a Platform Engineering Architect. An ideal candidate will have a passion for some of our key technologies (React, Java, GraphQL) and advocate pragmatic industry practices around availability, scalability, security, and automation. What you’d be doing:

Make data-based decisions to continuously improve the availability, performance, and maintainability of our services.
Create and communicate architectural decisions, features and processes through documentation and demos, and presentations to senior leaders.
Identify and drive resolution for issues in design, security, and system performance.
Review cross-squad technical roadmaps and provide long-term technical direction to the organization.
Mentor and coach engineers through pairing, design, and code reviews.
Research new technologies and introduce them to the organization where appropriate.

We’re looking for someone who has:

Experience designing, developing and maintaining distributed systems.
Demonstrable track record building new and rearchitecting existing services for performance and scale.
Experience in technical leadership in cross-functional teams and guiding the technical direction of projects.
Experience developing visual and written architectural plans to aid the organization’s understanding of current and future-state architectures.

Highly preferred candidates also have:

Experience with common development frameworks such as Spring Boot, Restlet, REACT, Angular etc.
Experience with multiple architecture design patterns such as, Backend for Frontend, API Gateway, or Microservices.
Understanding of modern storage solutions and their distinct uses in a distributed system.
Experience using cloud platforms and/or containerized application deployments, especially AWS and Kubernetes.
Experience in Insurtech or Fintech environments.
