Sr. Software Engineer

This position is primarily remote, with occasional visits to a local office or our corporate headquarters for team-building, training, and collaborative project work. These on-site sessions are designed to strengthen connections, share insights, and ensure a seamless experience for our team and customers. Equipment pick-up from a local branch will be required. We will  provide advance notice whenever on-site attendance is required, making these times purposeful and rewarding.

Sunrun is on a mission to make solar energy affordable for more people. We help people upgrade their home to solar energy without the big upfront costs. Sunrun is dedicated residential solar company in the country and has a mission to bring clean, solar power service to the masses.

This position reports to our San Francisco, CA office. May work from home office anywhere in the U.S. Salary offered: $187,200/ year.

Responsibilities:

• Promote high-quality communication and collaboration on our cross-functional team.
• Build a deep and nuanced understanding of the residential solar domain and how Sunrun’s business model is differentiated in the industry.
• Design and write software optimized for readability, maintainability, and testability.
• Understand when or when not to use industry-standard design patterns or practices.
• Apply a systems thinking mindset to work.
• Maintain operational stability of software systems from development through to production.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s in Software Engineering, Information Technology, or closely related field
• 5 y. exp. as a Software Eng. or Developer using Python, Java, MySQL, Docker, Linux Bash, Shell, Node.js, JSON, Jenkins and Git.
• Must also include at least 3 y. exp. with Kotlin, Javascript, Typescript, JUnit, AWS Lambda, and AWS DynamoDB.
