Key Responsibilities

  • Audit Planning and Execution:
    • Develop and execute audit plans in compliance with U.S. Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS).
    • Perform risk assessments to identify areas requiring focused audit efforts.
  • Financial Analysis:
    • Review and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and adherence to GAAP.
    • Verify transactions and financial records to detect errors, discrepancies, or fraud.
  • Internal Controls Evaluation:
    • Assess the effectiveness of internal controls and identify areas for improvement.
    • Provide actionable recommendations to strengthen compliance and mitigate risks.
  • Compliance Monitoring:
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, including SEC regulations and Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) requirements.
    • Stay updated on changes in tax laws and auditing standards that impact business operations.
  • Reporting:
    • Prepare detailed audit reports with findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
    • Present audit results to management and stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with internal teams to gather necessary documentation and data.
    • Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory bodies as required.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, preferably supporting accounting firms or multiple clients.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, or similar tools.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. accounting principles, tax regulations, and payroll processes.
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Reliable high-speed internet connection and a dedicated home office setup.

Preferred but Not Required

  • Experience with Dext, Hubdoc, Bill.com, Gusto, or similar tools is an asset.
  • Familiarity with managing books for a variety of industries.
  • Adaptability to learn and implement new software or processes.
