Job description

JOB PURPOSE

Lead the administration, maintenance, and optimization of the organization’s network infrastructure, system applications, and security systems. Areas of focus include document management systems, voice systems, secure file transfers, email platforms, Windows administration, patching, email and browser security, Active Directory, and group policies. Provide strategic guidance, mentor team members, and support complex issue escalation. Drive operational excellence through best practices and adherence to ITIL standards. Proactive monitoring, ensuring efficiency and minimizing downtime.

Flexible Work Schedule: Robins Kaplan LLP offers employees the benefit of flexible work schedules. This position has the option of working remotely 2 days per week.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Design, configure, and manage network systems, including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and Wi-Fi.
  • Administer and optimize server environments (Windows and Linux) and group policy configurations.
  • Oversee authentication systems, document management systems, voice systems, email platforms, and secure file transfers.
  • Implement robust security protocols, including email/browser security, patch management, and incident response.
  • Monitor and optimize system health.
  • Manage structured cabling, connectivity, and hardware installations to ensure seamless operations.
  • Develop and execute reliable backup, recovery, and disaster recovery plans.
  • Conduct system audits to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and optimize resource utilization.
  • Maintain comprehensive IT documentation following ITIL standards.
  • Provide expert troubleshooting and timely escalation to minimize disruptions.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Expertise in designing and managing network infrastructure, enterprise software, and secure file transfers.
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows Server, Linux, VMware/Hyper-V, and group policy administration.
  • Proficiency with monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
  • Strong understanding of security protocols, including email/browser protection, and patch management.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues efficiently.
  • Skilled in managing multiple IT projects, migrations, and upgrades, ensuring timely delivery.
  • Effective communicator with stakeholders across technical and non-technical domains.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor team members, fostering a collaborative and growth-focused environment.
  • Commitment to proactive system maintenance and innovative improvement strategies.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and achieve results.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS            

  • Required: 5+ years of experience in network and system administration, with expertise in document management systems, email systems, voice systems, secure file transfers, networking (routers, switches, Wi-Fi), and virtualization technologies.
  • Preferred: Certifications such as CCNA, MCSE, or VMware Certified Professional (VCP).
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF POSITION 

 Work is performed in a professional office environment and requires the following during the work day:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time (working at a computer)
  • Ability to move/traverse about inside the office intermittently throughout the day (attend meetings, access file cabinets, obtain supplies from supply room, etc.)
  • Operate computer and other office equipment such as a copy machine, printer, telephone, etc.
  • Repetitive movement (i.e. heavy computer/keyboard use).
  • Individual will interact regularly with others verbally, in-person, and via written communication.
  • May require occasional light lifting (files, copy paper, etc.).

The estimated salary range for this position is $88,600 - $107,350 per year.  This is a exempt position not eligible for overtime. The compensation offered will be dependent on the candidate's experience, skills, education, professional background, overall qualifications, and geographic market location.
