Proof of work

The team

At Kraken Digital Asset Exchange, the Kraken Risk Desk is a centralized execution desk handling client trades and trading execution, oversees daily trading operations, including monitoring risk metrics, managing balances, and analyzing trading activity. We ensure our clients can trade their favorite crypto tokens with the peace of mind they deserve.

As we scale our operations, we’re expanding by hiring the most analytical and detailed oriented professionals on the planet—those who are curious and passionate about driving the mainstream adoption of cryptocurrency and the technology behind it.

That’s where you come in! We’re looking for a Trading Operations Analyst to join our team remotely. As a key member of the team, you’ll work closely with the trading team to ensure smooth trading operations, handle ad-hoc and time sensible tasks, manage funding and balances, and monitor risk metrics. While this role will primarily focus on the execution side, it involves more than just trading. You’ll also conduct quantitative research and collaborate with the team to optimize Kraken Risk Desk (KRD) execution strategies.
Reporting to a Director, this individual contributor role offers an exceptional opportunity for a motivated professional eager to shape the future of crypto from a leading position within a top-tier brand.

The opportunity
  • Oversee the KRD desk’s daily operations, including monitoring risk metrics, managing balances, and analyzing trading activity.

  • Ensure operational processes are fully documented, tested and adequately supported.

  • Conduct quantitative research to optimize execution strategies for the Risk Desk.

  • Identify patterns, inefficiencies, and opportunities within trading operations to drive performance improvements.

  • Coordinate the implementation of trading strategies with the development team.

  • Design and develop tools to support trading-related activities, such as monitoring systems, research platforms, and risk management solutions.

Skills you should HODL
  • Proven experience in trading operations, risk management, and quantitative research, including expertise in back-office processes.

  • Basic proficiency in programming languages such as Python.

  • Previous experience working on integration projects with a strong understanding of exchange-specific requirements.

  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders, ranging from sales professionals to engineers.

  • Experience working with large datasets, leveraging analytical tools, and presenting findings in a clear and concise manner to various stakeholders.

  • A passion for the crypto world—you stay up to date with the latest trends, exciting coins, and have a strong learning attitude toward new developments in the industry.

  • Alignment with the cypherpunk and libertarian values described in Kraken’s Tentaclements document.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline.

  • This is a remote position, and you must be willing to work flexible hours, when needed.
