Global Head of Parental Advocacy

Roblox is a leader in safety and civility and aims to be the safest online platform. One element of this work is in empowering our community to recognize risks and build skills to manage them. We work with expert partners around the world to create evidence based resources and amplify relevant media literacy campaigns.

This role will report to the VP, Civility & Partnerships. This position can be remote, but ideally will based at our San Mateo, CA headquarters (hybrid with in-office days Tues-Thurs).

You Will:

• In partnership with the broader Civility team, develop and implement a comprehensive parental advocacy strategy for engaging with parents and caregivers around issues important to Roblox, addressing parental concerns, and building trust.
• Be responsible for creating initiatives to build confident parents and caregivers who are informed in child online safety.
• Play a key role in establishing an outreach and engagement commitment to connect (virtually and in-person) with global parent groups, family organizations and others concerned with digital child safety.
• Articulate our safety positions to external partners and act as a feedback loop regarding external concerns and needs to help inform XFN priorities and roadmaps.
• Act as a spokesperson for Roblox in meetings with family-focused organizations, media, industry events and other external events to advocate for the best interests of the child, digital wellbeing for the family, empowerment for parents while promoting Roblox’s commitment to child online protection.
• Work closely with relevant teams across the company to develop key partnerships.
• Advise Roblox internal team members on insights and feedback from parents to inform product development and safety policies and collaborate with cross-functional teams on policy and safety initiatives.
• Develop parental awareness resources and educational materials (webinars, guides, FAQs) for parents and caregivers to explain Roblox platform, safety features and digital safety, in general.

You Have:

• Advanced degree in a related field of study, or equivalent demonstrable work experience preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in advocacy, community engagement or consulting for parents and families within the digital space
• A proven track record in digital parenting as well as an internationally recognized expert and inspiring leader in academia, industry and government.
• Understanding of child safety legislation, online privacy and digital wellness initiatives.
• Proven track record in developing educational materials for parents and caregivers.
• Proven experience in building and maintaining international partnerships with advocacy groups, non-profit organizations, NGOs, governments, academia and other national and international organizations.
• Confident, experienced spokesperson with media experience in TV, radio and print.
• Consistent experience working with cross-functional teams (Product, Trust & Safety, Legal, Marketing, Public Policy) to develop policies, improve products, and provide insights from a digital child safety lens.
• Excellent project management, written and verbal communication skills.
• Available to travel globally with some regularity.
• Empathy and understanding of parental/caregiver concerns and challenges related to children’s online activities.
• Ability to speak one or more foreign languages is a bonus.

• Responsible for developing and implementing an innovative advocacy and engagement strategy that allows parents and caregivers to build confidence and skills to support their kid’s wellbeing and online safety.
• An established inspiring leader for parents, this role will serve as the voice of parents within Roblox and a bridge to parents globally, building trust, promoting online safety and empowering parents to guide their children’s online experiences.
• An expert in digital parenting, a key deliverable will be creating a (sustainable, parent-friendly) global digital literacy program for parents and caregivers so that parents are educated on what Roblox is and how their children can thrive online in Roblox experiences and online in general.
