Job description

The Director of Business Development (DBD) will play a key role in driving the growth and expansion of the company. This hands-on position requires a dynamic individual who is capable of developing strategic partnerships, identifying new market opportunities, and overseeing the execution of business development initiatives. The DBD will be directly involved in building and nurturing customer relationships, negotiating deals, and implementing growth strategies, while also collaborating closely with internal teams to ensure alignment with business goals. (This is meant to be a guide. Duties may vary dependent upon management.)

 
Essential Position Functions:

  • Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, potential markets, and business opportunities.
  • Develop and execute business development strategies aligned with company objectives.
  • Analyze competitive landscape and create strategies to differentiate the company in the market.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key customers, industry partners, and stakeholders.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for high-level customer negotiations and discussions.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with potential customers and partners.
  • Develop and implement sales strategies to drive revenue growth, including identifying new business channels and optimizing existing ones.
  • Manage the full sales cycle, from lead generation and prospecting to closing and post-deal follow-up.
  • Ensure sales goals are met or exceeded by building an effective sales pipeline and converting leads into long-term customers.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor a team of sales professionals and/or account managers to ensure high performance and professional growth.
  • Provide hands-on support to business development team members as needed, including lead qualification, proposal creation, and customer engagement.
  • Coordinate with operations’ teams to ensure business development strategies are fully integrated with company objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth execution of business development initiatives.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to business development and sales efforts.
  • Regularly update the executive team on business development progress, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Participate in networking events, industry conferences, and other relevant platforms to build relationships and expand the company’s presence.
  • Continuously assess and refine business development processes and tools for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Implement best practices and strategies that enhance the overall business development function.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • 10+ years of results driven business development experience in the telecommunications industry required.
  • 3+ years of experience of direct sales experience required.
  • A combination of education and experience may be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience utilizing Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems preferred.
  • Successful track record in quota-driven environments and superior leadership skills required.
  • Proven negotiation and analytical skills with professional business acumen.
  • Ability to work independently: set schedule, meet with customers/operations to ensure overall satisfaction.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to build rapport with customers.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in written formats.
  • Ability to give direction, adapt to change, and work in a team environment.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and criminal background check.
