Job Description

The primary responsibility of the Regional Manager is to work strategically with Trek retailers across South Africa and neighbouring countries to develop and strengthen partnerships to increase the sales of Trek and Bontrager products. This individual will maximize Trek's market share by utilizing the Trek Retailer Sales Program and other Trek initiatives. They will build strong, long-term relationships with our retailers and ensure that our product representation in the area meets Trek standards. 

The ideal candidate will possess sales & business development experience, be a motivated team player, and have excellent communication and computer skills. Ideally the right candidate will also have some real-world experience at working in Retail.

The role will be a remote position and the candidate needs to reside in the Cape region. But, get set for some travel—it's part of the game!

What You’ll do as a Regional Manager:

  • Represent the Trek brand to the market and to Retailers.
  • Develop and implement a strategic growth plan for the region.
  • Build and develop competent and committed dealers
  • Support growth of market share in store and in market
  • Drive sales for Trek and Bontrager. Set goals, monitor dealers’ performance, and link in forecasting, ordering, and the sales process.
  • Appoint, develop & consult with retailers to maximize our position in the market. 
  • Provide product and sales training to Trek retailers in the region.
  • Conduct ongoing market research to understand the competitive environment & identify areas of opportunity. 
  • Be a Business Consultant to Trek Retailers. Make recommendations to retailers about Continuous Improvement initiatives. 
  • Assist Retailers to enhance the consumer experience.
  • Collaborate with the Trek South Africa HQ team.
  • Manage T&E spend within budget.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and embody the Trek brand.

What You’ll bring to the role:

  • 3+ years of sales and business development experience.
  • Strong business and financial acumen.
  • Ownership mentality to execute business plans and initiatives.
  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time in coastal regions of South Africa, with flexibility for overnight travel when needed.
  • Excellent and demonstratable relationship-building skills. 
  • Must have good organization and follow-up skills. 
  • Be familiar with the region and markets.
