Instructional Designer

POSITION SUMMARY: 

Support course design from inception to final product of internal training courses, specifically applying the principles of adult learning design for both synchronous and asynchronous (e.g., online courses) learning.  
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of developmental techniques, adult learning theory and common instructional design techniques. The successful candidate will be required to be familiar with instructional design best practices, instructional technology and have the ability to create engaging educational materials that are aligned with corporate goals. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

• Create, update and maintain course content in the LMS.
• Manage small- and large-scale instructional design projects.
• Apply andrological principles and learning theories to create engaging course designs.
• Conduct regular internal reviews of course content to ensure accuracy and relevance.
• Work closely with all departments to understand training goals, needs and develop plans to address requirements
• Perform targeted user outreach to LMS learners for feedback on their experience with the learning content.
• Recommend process improvements to improve operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Develop and guide the production of instructional materials, aids, manuals including print, digital, video, audio, and web formats as required, using appropriate equipment and software.
• Provide ongoing feedback to management regarding the health and overall wellness of the system, effective use, and associated training content.
• Seek ongoing training opportunities to maintain system understanding of new features and functionality.
• Support architectural updates to the system, and participate in testing and/or validation activities, as needed. 

EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 

• Proven experience with authoring tools such as Rise360, Storyline, Captivate or equivalent strongly preferred.
• Proven experience with additional software tools such as TechSmith, Vyond, Camtasia and Adobe Creative Cloud.
• Experience designing and developing blended learning solutions including e-learning, instructor-led training content, and supporting materials such as audio, video, simulations, role plays, games etc.
• Prior Design work experience with Compliance and Auditing is highly desired  
• Strong verbal, presentation, and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
• Excellent decision making and organizational skills.
• Ability to prioritize and work independently with the ability to meet deadlines and the flexibility to pivot based on organizational changes and learner needs.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, demonstrating a sense of urgency and ownership.
• Exposure to learning management systems (LMS).
• Proven success in selecting the best learning solution/modality and why.
