Marketing Designer, Creative Services, PRH Christian Division (Open to Remote)

Penguin Random House Christian Publishing Division is seeking a Graphic Designer to join our Advertising and Creative Operations department. This position requires strong organizational and time management skills, and the ability to work on a variety of projects in an intense and fast-paced environment. The  Designer will be responsible for managing simultaneous projects to support marketing efforts across web, social, and email platforms including motion graphics. This individual will be savvy in producing great design in print, motion, and promotional items. This position will focus on WaterBrook, Multnomah, Image, Ink & Willow, and Forum imprints. This is an amazing opportunity to join an innovative integrated department and work with the renowned titles published by these imprints.

 

Our Christian publishing program is devoted to creating books that inspire readers to find rich, spiritual purpose in their daily lives and invite them into a deeper relationship with God. We are seeking a creative, collaborative, and enthusiastic designer with interest in working with Christian books to join our team. This Designer will be an active member of the team who creates and executes customized campaigns for approximately 80 Christian focused books per year ranging from Christian Living titles, Christian Fiction, Young Readers, and 4-color product lines including children’s board books and gift products. This Position will report to the Creative Director.

The Role:

  • Day-to-day work will include working closely with the Marketers to refine designs, incorporate feedback, and route work to internal departments, maintaining a positive attitude in a highly deadline driven environment
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ask clarifying questions throughout the marketing design process to create effective work
  • Manage projects with the Project Manager through our project management/design request software, and correspond on project threads as needed
  • Traffic creative: preparing and releasing files to stakeholders, and sending projects to print
  • Partner with the Creative Services team to remain current on art, design, and publishing trends offering new ideas on aesthetics and working styles into our department’s creative ecosystem to help keep our output relevant and timely

 

The Essentials:

  • Minimum of  3-5 years of experience as a staff designer in advertising preferred, trade publishing marketing design experience is a plus, but not required for success in the role
  • Strong interest and familiarity with the world of the Christian Book space is a requirement for success in this role
  • A passion for design and typography—as demonstrated by your portfolio
  • Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Microsoft  Office Products. Working knowledge in Adobe After Effects, Adobe Audition, and Adobe Premier — and the interest and ability to learn new systems and applications as needed
  • Strong typography skills
  • Experience with preparing files for press
  • Proficient time- management and project- management skills : Timely follow-up skills with the marketing teams and other stakeholders, and the ability to prioritize and complete multiple projects in a fast-paced, details-focused, and deadline-driven environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, across email, direct messaging, and in meetings
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with the team when needed
  • A goal-oriented team player who can cultivate productive working relationships
  • Proficiency in creative problem solving, decision making, and time management
  • Proficiency using social media platforms as a marketing tool
  • Nice to have: experience or interest in product photography, videography

 

The salary range for this position is $66,500 to $68,500.  All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
