About the role:
The Director of Business Development is a strategic, growth-oriented role that works alongside our executive team to identify, pursue, and win federal and state opportunities. In this role, you will work with executive leadership to develop and overall business development strategies. You will provide leadership and oversight for Gen3’s capture and proposal teams as you guide Gen3 towards winnable opportunities in our target capability areas, markets, and federal agencies. You will build and leverage professional client and industry relationships to facilitate company growth. You will develop and leverage a strong understanding of your target accounts and how Gen3 will leverage our capabilities, past performance, and relationships to win federal contracts.
Location: Remote, U.S. Candidates local to the DMV area are preferred.
What you'll do:
- Develop, mature, and execute Gen3's opportunity pipeline.
- Identify opportunities that align with Gen3's capability areas (Cybersecurity, Privacy, PMO Implementation, DevSecOps, Agile, and SAFe) and target markets and agencies, including Treasury, IRS, VA, HHS, DHA, and other civilian agencies.
- Performs full life-cycle business development to include strategic positioning, competitive analyses, client contact and engagement, partner identification and teaming agreements, and price-to-win strategies.
- Provide oversight and guidance to Gen3’s Capture and Proposal teams
- Review opportunities, identify gaps, and engage partners.
- Negotiate teaming agreements.
- Identifies and aligns past performance to support the initial technical solution and engages engineers or solution architects to contribute.
- Represent Gen3 at industry conferences and networking events.
- Use tools and sites, such as GovWin, beta.sam, eBuy, eMMC, USASpending, FPDS, agency-specific sites, and other means, to find and track new contract opportunities.
- Support bids on GWACs, IDIQs, and agency-specific vehicles.
What you'll need:- 10–15 years of federal BD and growth experience with a successful track record of winning federal contracts.
- Be an outgoing and engaging face of Gen3 for prospective clients and partners in your assigned accounts.
- Strong understanding of government contracting and procurement.
- Proven track record of successfully growing a federal practice or small business; selling and winning.
- General understanding of core capability areas and markets, especially Fed Health and HealthIT.
- Experience developing and pursuing an opportunity pipeline.
- Exceptional interpersonal and team-building skills with the ability to gain the confidence of senior-level executives and industry partners.
What's desired to have:- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, cybersecurity, or a related discipline.
- Desired Certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP), ITIL, or other related industry certifications.

Employment Eligibility: Eligible to work for any employer in the United States without requiring sponsorship.
