Job Overview

We are actively seeking a highly-skilled and visionary Vice President of Real Estate and Community Development to spearhead our strategic initiatives in real estate transactions, encompassing development and redevelopment efforts. This pivotal role is integral to our commitment to delivering affordable and high-quality housing while facilitating sustainable community growth. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President, you will oversee a range of professional and managerial activities associated with various real estate and development projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Senior Vice President to establish and execute strategic objectives related to real estate and community development.
  • Direct and mentor the real estate development team, providing ongoing coaching and support to achieve project goals.
  • Identify and actively pursue new housing development opportunities in collaboration with public and private sector stakeholders.
  • Supervise the comprehensive planning, design, financing, and implementation of diverse real estate projects, with an emphasis on mixed-income and mixed-use developments.
  • Prepare and manage project development budgets, operating pro formas, and appraisals while assessing housing market studies and financing proposals.
  • Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulatory requirements, including zoning and funding specifications.
  • Engage with city and state departments, partners, and community stakeholders to facilitate funding programs for redevelopment initiatives.
  • Manage designated real estate assets, conduct due diligence for property acquisitions, and make informed recommendations.
  • Collaborate with the Vice President of the HCV Program on developer RFPs and the allocation of Project-Based Vouchers.
  • Contribute to the advancement of regional affordable housing projects.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with funders, community organizations, residents, and other key stakeholders to align efforts with community needs.
  • Organize outreach events and community forums to gather insights and feedback on housing initiatives.
  • Represent the agency at city council sessions, public hearings, and meetings with officials at various levels.
  • Oversee the project budget for real estate initiatives, ensuring financial stability and sustainability while supporting the overall departmental budget.
  • Identify and secure diverse funding sources to underwrite affordable housing efforts.
  • Ensure that procurement processes for RFPs and contracts are consistent with the agency’s strategic objectives and local master plans.
  • Monitor and manage contracts related to real estate activities, ensuring compliance with procurement standards and maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Advocate for policies that encourage affordable housing and community development at all governmental levels.
  • Stay informed on housing industry trends, best practices, and evolving regulations to maintain market competitiveness.
  • Assist in compiling reports on real estate projects for senior management and stakeholders, presenting project developments and strategic insights.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Real Estate Development, Public Administration, or a closely related discipline.
  • A minimum of seven years of experience in real estate development, community development, or a related field.
  • A track record of successfully managing complex real estate projects and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Extensive knowledge of housing policies, regulations, and funding mechanisms, including LIHTC, bonds, and others.
