Your Team
You will be part of a multi-disciplinary technology team, working closely with our customers (business, software vendors and partners) and strategic project teams. The team is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of the Hollard Data Platform that support our customers through all aspect of the insurance value chain. The team is involved in all aspects from design through to testing, implementation, maintenance and support.
Your Role
As Data Engineering Technical Lead, you will work in the Data team and actively collaborate in our data journey, leading the data engineering direction for the delivery of our Azure Data Platform.
You will provide leadership and technical direction within the data engineering team and apply your knowledge, define and enforce enterprise data engineering standards, principles, and patterns across implementation to deliver target state design and implementation.
Your duties and responsibilities:
Reporting to the Head of Data Management the key focus areas will be:
- Lead the strategic and technical development of Hollard’s Data Platform(s).
- Provide oversight for the overall Azure data platform architecture design, data modelling, gathering and analysis of data requirements; understand document, communicate and build appropriate solutions.
- Promote, maintain and drive adherence of “best practices” and coding standards for the team to enable the implementation of a robust data platform. These include metadata framework, code versioning and management, reconciliation framework, platform monitoring, CI/CD pipelines, platform monitoring, environment management principles, etc.
- Lead the translation of data architecture design and logical data models into physical design to build reusable components, frameworks, and libraries at, ensuring the delivery of an efficient and scalable data asset in an Azure environment.
- Lead internal and external engineering teams to build products and/or infrastructure required to support scalable data products, providing effective guidance for analysis, design, programming, and testing skills.
- Accountable for the delivery of robust data pipelines and data transformations across the data platform, including data reconciliation, metadata management, platform monitoring.
Your knowledge and experience
- Extensive experience in design, build and support of data engineering pipelines in the data warehousing, BI analytics, and/or ML space, which includes demonstrated experience in using Azure data analytics tool such as Data Factory, Synapse, Azure SQL, data lake gen2, key vault.
- Strong software engineering, SQL, and coding skills in data intensive environments (transactional and columnar databases) is required.
- Experience working in DevOps and Agile environments, as well as continuous integration.
- A comprehensive understanding of data warehousing and data transformation processes and the supporting cloud / emerging technologies, such as Azure Synapse / Azure Fabric / Snowflake (or similar), and traditional ETL tools.
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in implementing modern lake house architecture on Azure Data Lake Gen2 and Apache Spark using PySpark is required.
- Related certifications are preferable (e.g., Azure Data Fundamentals, Azure Data Engineer Associate).
