About the Role


Are you passionate about tropical weather forecasting and eager to make a global impact? As a Tropical Meteorologist at StormGeo, you’ll specialize in tropical cyclone forecasting while supporting clients with accurate, timely weather insights. This role combines technical expertise, client interaction, and collaboration across teams, ensuring that our clients are always prepared to navigate challenging weather conditions.

This position is ideal for experienced meteorologists who thrive in dynamic environments and are ready to contribute to high-stakes decisions worldwide.


Main Responsibilities


  • Deliver High-Quality Forecasts: Provide accurate and professional tropical cyclone forecasts and alerts in compliance with ISO 9001 quality standards.
  • Client Engagement: Respond to client inquiries through phone, email, and video briefings, including scheduled briefings and urgent updates.
  • Forecast Leadership: Coordinate tropical cyclone forecasts across teams and ensure all forecasters are updated on global tropical threats.
  • Analyze and Interpret Data: Evaluate weather models, satellite imagery, and radar products for accuracy and trends, sharing findings with operations teams.
  • Research and Innovation: Conduct and present meteorological research, contributing to advancements in tropical forecasting and client solutions.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Coordinate weather products with internal teams and provide support for broader forecasting operations as needed.
  • Training and Development: Train new team members virtually or in person and participate in ongoing professional development.
  • Client-Centered Focus: Understand client needs, preferences, and vulnerabilities to deliver tailored weather solutions.
  • Reporting and Communication: Lead end-of-shift meetings, produce detailed shift summaries, and record daily storm-specific videos for clients.


Core Requirements


  • Educational Background: M.S. degree in Meteorology, or B.S. in Meteorology with 5+ years of tropical weather forecasting experience.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Windows PC software, including Microsoft Office; experience with Linux and GARP/GEMPAK is a plus.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to lead client briefings and record professional videos.
  • Work Environment: Comfortable working rotating shifts, including irregular hours during active weather operations.
  • Personal Attributes: Self-confident, well-organized, and able to handle high-pressure situations. A positive attitude, adaptability, and a collaborative mindset are essential.
