About the Role:

We are looking for a seasoned and forward-thinking Head of Risk and Compliance to oversee compliance operations within an FCA-regulated EMI. The role requires substantial expertise in EMI compliance, with a focus on UK and EU regulations. This leadership position involves managing compliance teams, addressing key risks such as AML/CFT and fraud, and ensuring operational excellence to support business growth and regulatory adherence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Oversee onboarding and transaction monitoring teams, fostering collaboration and high performance.
  • Risk Mitigation: Develop and implement strategies to identify and mitigate AML, sanctions, fraud, and other risks through robust policies and controls.
  • Talent Development: Recruit and mentor compliance professionals, create professional development plans, and conduct regular performance evaluations.
  • Policy Oversight: Continuously refine compliance policies and procedures to ensure adherence to current regulations and best practices.
  • Efficiency Enhancement: Drive initiatives to optimize departmental processes and reduce processing times without compromising quality.
  • Auditing and Quality Control: Perform regular reviews of compliance procedures to maintain regulatory alignment and meet internal quality standards.
  • Strategic Planning: Set objectives, monitor departmental KPIs and OKRs, and lead efforts for continuous improvement.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Report to senior management on compliance risks, initiatives, and department performance metrics.
  • Technology Adoption: Leverage advanced technology to improve compliance workflows and scalability.
  • Visionary Leadership: Develop a strategy to scale client operations while maintaining regulatory compliance and operational integrity.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of experience in a compliance leadership role within an EMI.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of UK and EU regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven ability to build and manage high-performing teams.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional compliance certification (e.g., ACAMS, ICA).
  • Experience with regulatory technology (RegTech) tools.
