Position Overview

The successful candidate will have strong IT technical & audit skills. This role is part of a team responsible for evaluating technology related risks and other operational risks at Penn Mutual and its affiliates. In partnership with the business and the other second line functions (Financial Controls, Ethics & Compliance, Enterprise Risk Management and Information Security), our team provides assurance over risks and controls to meet the needs of our stakeholders. The successful candidate will work with our team as well as employees from across the organization to understand and evaluate IT processes and be a resource in helping align our focus to areas of highest risk. You will gain broad exposure to the Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company and its subsidiaries, which include Broker Dealers, Asset Managers and other Life Insurance Companies.

Position Expectations

  • Utilize critical thinking, data gathering and problem solving skillsets to understand and assess technology and business processes and operational risk focus areas throughout the organization in support of our corporate initiatives.
  • Manage IT testing and direct report(s) ensuring the team’s development, prioritization/coverage of appropriate risks and continuous improvement with the latest trends in IT auditing to complete audits effectively.
  • Design and implement testing of technology business processes and controls related to assurance engagements and continuous audit procedures in accordance with team procedures.
  • Facilitates and/or completes the execution of assurance engagements and continuous audit procedures across all affiliates, as assigned, in accordance with planned timelines and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Effectively communicate & manage IT issues identified, impacts and solutions related to operational risk to second line functions, business areas and Enterprise Leadership.
  • Evaluate new technologies (e.g., cloud computing, AI, cybersecurity) and their impact on IT controls.
  • Build/maintain relationships and partner with team members, key business partners and other second line functions along with staying current on IT business initiatives, strategic goals & emerging risks.
  • Manage the IT engagements and relationships for external stakeholder support.
  • Perform and manage advisory projects and other department initiatives as assigned.

Experience, Education And Licenses

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Management Information Systems or equivalent required.
  • Seven plus years of actual IT audit and/or IT experience in information security/cybersecurity, systems engineering or IT operations (infrastructure, networking).
  • CISA or equivalent a plus (one is required to be obtained within first two years of employment); other industry certifications to be determined as needed.

Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to plan, scope and execute the completion of audits in accordance with planned timelines for yourself along with supervising other team members.
  • Demonstrated experience with understanding IT processes, documenting & examining IT controls, as necessary, and evaluating their design and operational effectiveness.
  • Demonstrated experience with applying innovative solutions such as leveraging data analytics to enhance audit coverage and implementing continuous auditing techniques to monitor key controls on an ongoing basis.
  • Demonstrated experience with training and developing team members
  • Communicate complex technical concepts in clear and concise terms to relevant stakeholders verbally and in writing.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop effective working relationships within a team and key Business stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates flexibility, adaptability, collegiality and team player orientation.

Base Salary Range - $108,500 - $140,000
