Reporting to the Vice President, Employer Account Services & Claims Management Support, the Director, Employer Account Services is a key leadership position with a significant external-facing mandate. This role is critical to shaping and delivering services related to employer accounts, underwriting, and audit while fostering strong partnerships with external stakeholders, including employers, employer associations, OHS, and funded safety associations.
The Director will also collaborate closely with internal teams, including finance and actuarial experts, to ensure the integrity of pricing programs, premium rate-setting, and overall system performance. This role demands a strategic leader who can engage with high-level stakeholders to represent WCB-Alberta in discussions on pricing strategies, rate drivers, and performance improvement initiatives.
Your Director, Employer Account Services responsibilities:
- Lead the planning, direction, and management of Employer Accounts, Underwriting, and Audit operations to meet WCB’s mission and corporate objectives.
- Represent WCB-Alberta externally, liaising with employer associations, safety partners, and employers to discuss policies, procedures, pricing programs, and system improvements.
- Develop objectives, budgets, and plans to ensure optimal resource allocation and service delivery.
- Build and lead a high-performing team of engaged professionals committed to delivering exceptional risk management services.
- Ensure alignment with broader corporate goals by collaborating with the Planning and Priorities Committee and other internal teams.
- Monitor trends and developments in risk management at the provincial, national, and international levels, recommending new strategies as appropriate.
- Champion a customer-focused culture, fostering innovation and continuous improvement.
Your experience and skills:
- Undergraduate degree in Business, Social Sciences, or a related field; MBA is an asset.
- Extensive management experience in risk management, insurance, or a related field, with a deep understanding of WCB policies and legislation.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to build and maintain strategic relationships.
- Proven track record in leadership, strategic planning, and performance management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on innovation and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to navigate complex organizational dynamics and engage effectively with diverse stakeholder groups.
