Job description

Transformations Care Network is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Staff Accountant to join our Finance team.

The Accounts Payable Staff Accountant will play a key role in managing the organization’s accounts payable functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, vendor payments, and expense reimbursements while maintaining compliance with GAAP accounting standards. This role will partner and collaborate across departments and business leaders to optimize accounts payable processes, support month-end close activities, reconcile accounts, manage journal entries, and provide reporting and analysis to support decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and record accounts payable transactions, ensuring all invoices and expense reimbursements are accurately coded and approved in compliance with company policies.
  • Manage the vendor setup process, maintain vendor records, and ensure timely and accurate payments to vendors.
  • Reconcile accounts payable sub-ledgers to the general ledger monthly.
  • Monitor accounts to ensure timely payments, resolving any discrepancies or payment issues promptly.
  • Review and process employee expense reports in compliance with company policies and IRS guidelines.
  • Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries and reconciliations related to accounts payable and accrued expenses.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies in the recording and reporting of expenditures.
  • Assist in preparing 1099 forms and ensuring compliance with tax reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to resolve invoice or payment discrepancies and improve communication between teams.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for accounts payable processes to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of accounts payable workflows.
  • Provide support for external audits by maintaining accurate documentation and responding to audit requests.
  • Assist with tracking and reporting key performance indicators (KPIs) related to accounts payable, including payment cycle times and discount utilization.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, including proper expense recognition and accrual processes.
  • Provide excellent customer service to vendors and internal stakeholders regarding payment inquiries and accounts payable processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Controller and CFO.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • 1-3 years of experience in accounts payable
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to research and interpret accounting guidance and draft accounting documentation to support conclusions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Teams, SharePoint and Outlook
  • Experience with accounts payable software and general ledger systems
  • Highly detail oriented, organized, self-motivated and proactive
  • Experience working within Sage Intacct, CashFlow360 (Chase Connect application), and/or Concur expense reporting software (Preferred)
  • Ability to utilize critical thinking to solve complex and detailed problems through resolution (Preferred)
  • Demonstrate growth mindset, flexibility, and adaptability to change (Preferred)
  • Strong work ethic and be able to meet critical deadlines (Preferred)
  • Experience in healthcare (Preferred)
