Algorithm & Operations Reserach Backend Developer (m/f/d)

We are on a mission to drastically reduce global carbon emissions by revolutionizing the energy strategies of manufacturing companies. Founded on groundbreaking research from Stanford and RWTH Aachen, our software enables enterprise companies like BMW to navigate the new volatile energy world to transition and operate to new energy technologies. Thus enabling a shift to renewable energies effectively and affordably. With our core system, we have demonstrated to save individual DAX companies hundreds of millions in their energy budget, and are not stopping there. - And for that, we need you to join us!

We are looking for back-end developers with deep knowledge in the development of optimization algorithms who are impact driven and bring fresh ideas. Continuous improvement of our algorithms is crucial for us to create the product for the impact we want to have on the world. As a Backend developer, you would work on our algorithms and set up new services, APIs, and databases. You would work in close collaboration with the product team.

Tasks

• Develop new algorithms to extend the energy decision making capabilities of our software
• Extend our Energy System Model
• Develop APIs.
• Be versatile and enthusiastic about improving and challenging our current algorithms
  
  
  

Requirements

• You have a Degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Knowledge in operations research / optimization algorithms
• You have experience with complex algorithms and in troubleshooting problems across services and functional areas.
• You ideally have experience in Julia, Python or comparable programming languages such as R.
• You are not too shy to write tests and are familiar with CI/CD Tools (Github Actions).
• You love to share your thoughts and grow with others.

Everyone loves a straightforward and quick process. That's why we've broken our approach into three steps, each allowing you to contact us with any questions or concerns.

This is what the individual steps look like:

• Initial chat: to get to know each other, understand the current situation, and your expectations with one of our Founders (30 min)
• Take home challenge followed by live technical interview: to test your abilities and learn more about your technical skills with Niklas, Max, and Elias (2 h + 60 min).
• Personal meeting: to find out if we click together, whether it’s during lunch or a remote call with all founders - Elias, Joshua, and Philipp (approx. 30 min)
