Job Classification:

Operations - Insurance Operations

At Prudential, we believe talent is key to achieving our vision. When you join Prudential, you’ll unlock a motivating and impactful career – all while growing your skills and advancing your profession at one of the world’s leading financial services institutions!

The Capability Specialist is the crucial link between the short-term disability (STD) and long-term disability (LTD) organizations, ensuring smooth claims transitions and managing the duration or return-to-work opportunities of claims. You will maintain a caseload and co-manage claims with the Disability Claim Managers through the STD and LTD processes.

The current employee work arrangement for this position is fully virtual. While this position does not require your on-site presence on a regular basis, depending on business preferences, there may be occasions where you are required to be on-site at a Prudential office.

What you can expect:

  • Collaborate with the Transition Advisor via the EvolutionIQ (EIQ) portal to review and manage claims flagged for LTD transition or return to work.

  • Evaluate claims to determine appropriate categorization and take necessary actions, including outreach to stakeholders and referring cases to clinical or vocational teams.

  • Ensure smooth transitions between STD and LTD organizations.

  • Co-manage a caseload of disability claims, ensuring optimal duration and appropriate handling.

  • Make informed decisions on claims based on individual nuances.

  • Identify and manage return-to-work opportunities.

  • Gather and prepare necessary information for LTD transitions.

  • Co-adjudicate claims accurately using the DCMS claim system

What you’ll need:

  • In-depth understanding of both STD and LTD processes.

  • Knowledge of pre-existing conditions and their impact on claims.

  • Proficiency in using the DCMS claim system.

  • Strong critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Minimum of three to five years of experience managing disability claims.

  • Experience with EvolutionIQ and handling related alerts.

  • Customer-focused mindset, excellent time management, flexibility, and a growth mindset
