Actuarial Associate III!
About The Role
The Enterprise Risk Management team is looking for an actuary to join us! We are seeking an Actuary to support the Insurance Capital Standard (ICS) reporting function. In this role, you will be involved with the development, implementation, and maintenance of group-wide capital regulatory requirements. You will ensure that results are accurate and delivered on time, and work with other departments across the Company to meet objectives. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of ICS requirements, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate results clearly to stakeholders, including our Japanese parent company, Sumitomo Life.
What You Will Do
- Calculate and report capital requirements under the ICS framework.
- Interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into actionable plans while ensuring compliance with ICS technical specifications.
- Produce and analyze model outputs and spreadsheet calculations, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Manage and run models, which includes updating model inputs and producing model results in a timely manner.
- Present and explain results to senior management, Sumitomo Life, regulatory authorities, and other key stakeholders as needed.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and enhancements to streamline calculation review and validation procedures.
- Collaborate with external consultants and colleagues to stay informed about ICS developments, regulatory changes, and emerging industry practices.
- Work with external auditors to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and identify corrective actions as needed.

Compensation
Salary Range: $93,900 – $156,600 plus eligibility for annual bonus programs
Who You Are
- Bachelors degree or equivalent with strong quantitative background including college level mathematics.
- 3 to 5 years of annuity related actuarial experience.
- 5 to 7 actuarial exams, might have ASA
- Strong communication skills, particularly as it relates to communication of technical concepts to non-technical audiences. Proven ability to communicate with senior leadership.
- Proficient in using spreadsheets and actuarial modeling software.
- Strong understanding of basic actuarial concepts, assumptions, and their applications in modeling, risk management, pricing, and financial reporting.
- Familiar with automation tools and process improvement techniques.
- Able to solve actuarial problems with guidance in a multi-dimensional context.
- Comfortable working in a team environment and open to supporting changes.
- Basic knowledge of insurance products and the industry.
- Understanding of insurance GAAP and Statutory accounting principles, as well as company financials (e.g., income statements, balance sheets, policyholder reserves).
- Some experience with actuarial issues in company, industry, and regulatory contexts.
- Understanding of Insurance Capital Standard requirements and calculations.
- MG-ALFA experience.
- Proficiency in SQL or Python is preferred.
- Microsoft Office 365
- High school diploma required.
