POSITION SUMMARY
The Human Resources Director (HRD) reports to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). The HRD plans, develops, leads and directs the policies and activities of Business Partnership, Benefits, Compensation, Employee Relations, Recruitment, and Operations (including HRIS, policy development, legal compliance) colleagues to drive compliant and effective human resources that also supports a strong employee experience. Partners with the CHRO in developing the department’s strategy to ensure strong talent attraction, development and management as well as engagement and cultural evolution in line with the overall strategic plan. Guides HR Business Partners in effective talent management, creation of an engaging and inclusive environment, and offering guidance and support on people related concerns and/or issues. Ensures the Human Resources team partners effectively with key leaders to drive and support cultural and operational change that fosters and promotes an inclusive, engaging, diverse, accountable, and innovative environment that is also compliant while enabling ECRI to meet its short-and long-term goals and mission.

Essential Functions:
Leadership and Strategic Partnership:
- Develops HR strategies and plans in partnership with the CHRO that align with the organization's goals and guides team in effective execution against them.
- Creates a sense of belonging for the team by ensuring a clear understanding of goals and outcomes required in the short and long term.
- Maintains a solid understanding of the organization, operations, financials, and external landscape.
- Operates on behalf of the CHRO when needed to ensure things continue to progress in a timely and effective manner for the department and organization.

- Partners with the CHRO in leadership of annual talent processes, including talent management and succession planning.
Engagement And Retention:
- Partners with Associate Director - Diversity, Equity and Inclusion & Internal Communications to identify key programs that continually evolve the culture to ensure a strong sense of belonging for all colleagues; engages HR Team to inform and support execution of programs.
- Works closely with HR Business Partners on escalated employee relations matters to appropriately investigate and/or resolve.
- Enhances HR Teams capabilities on an on-going basis to enable them to effectively create an engaging culture that retains talent.
- Creates and guides team on implementation of programs that generate positive morale, improve relationships, and boost retention.
- Reviews organization wide metrics –employee retention, employee engagement, turnover – to identify trends and work with HR Team to appropriately address to ensure a highly engaged and inclusive workforce.
Human Resources Policies / Procedures:
- Guides the HR Team in the development, implementation, and administration of appropriate policies, programs, and solutions; proactively identifies gaps in existing HR policies and consults with appropriate internal and external policies to ensure they are addressed in a timely fashion.
- Ensures compliance of Human Resources function from policies, practices, data management and compliance perspective.
- Shares in-depth knowledge with full HR team on legal requirements related to the day-to-day management of employees, mitigating legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Builds knowledge and capabilities of the team to ensure legal requirements are met, legal risks are mitigated and on-going regulatory compliance is maintained.
- Reviews ECRI’s HR policies on a regular basis to ensure they support ECRI’s culture and values to create a strong sense of belonging where diversity is welcomed and encouraged.
- Offers expertise to ensure appropriate management of ECRI’s employment policies and practices including complex leave management, disability and ADA.
Benefits:
- Provides CHRO with annual benefit program design recommendation, including trade off decision points, cost considerations including cost containment options, with an eye to a design that meets employee population needs and creates a competitive talent attraction lever.
- Leads team in the design of benefit program offering in partnership with broker, and gains input and support from Finance as needed.
- Ensures team appropriately implements and administers benefits programs with guidance from external broker.
- Reviews program participation on a regular basis and guides team to look for new ways to ensure employees maximize use of benefits.
- Partners with broker to ensure appropriate oversight, management and documentation of benefits programs, including issuing of notices, to ensure compliance is maintained.
Compensation:
- Partners with CHRO in the design and administration of a comprehensive compensation philosophy.
- Guides team in management of compensation program and on-going administration in service of job offers, internal equity reviews, annual salary review process and related processes tied to compensation; ensures compliance with current legislation related to compensation.
- Audits and oversees management and processing of incentive programs with appropriate approvals.
- Leads tracking and processing of incentive programs for senior leadership (SLT) in partnership with the CHRO.
- Stays abreast of ongoing compensation-related compliance and regulations; ensures adherence.
- Partners with Finance to ensure appropriate processing of key annual or one-off adjustments, rewards programs and incentive programs.
Recruitment:
- Oversees talent attraction and identification processes and systems to ensure a strong pipeline of talent for the organization
- Oversees HR teams’ work to ensure compliance of tracking and reporting of applicant data in line with federal and state requirements.
- Reviews metrics on a regular basis to identify strengths and areas of improvement relative to talent attraction and on-boarding.
- Reviews team’s development and implementation of new programs to enhance diverse talent attraction to ECRI.
- Oversees enhancements to the onboarding process to maximize overall experience for new hires coupled with a fast ramp up time to ensure their success.
Special Projects
- Leads other HR and organization-wide special projects, as needed.

Serves as a coach and advisor to team on such topics as performance management, succession planning, and recognition and rewards.
Partners effectively with non-HR stakeholders to enlist support, guidance and resourcing to meet needs of the HR team.
Keeps team apprised of changes in external shifts relative to HR practices, laws and regulations. Proactively identify adjustments needed to policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure we remain compliant.
Ensures overall HR function remains compliant with applicable federal, state, industry and local regulations, laws and guidelines.
Qualifications
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
7-10 years of recent experience in human resources, with relevant experience in performance management, training & development, and employee relations. Healthcare experience is preferred.
An up-to-date understanding of present and future employment legislation.
Demonstrated problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
Demonstrated ability to influence people using a range of appropriate techniques and approaches.
Strong sense of integrity and proven ability to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality.
Proven experience interpreting and applying human resources laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
Proven leadership development and training capabilities is a plus.
Strong organizational and planning skills.
Analytical skills and attention to detail.

Experience implementing and working with automated performance management tools.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in a related discipline is required.

POSITION COMPENSATION
The salary range for new employees in this position is $127,164.97 - $144,332.24, based on background, experience, and skills. In addition, new employees in this position are eligible for all of our benefit offerings, including, but not limited to, health and welfare benefits, 403(B) retirement savings, and paid time off (PTO), as well as variable compensation.
This position operates in a remote environment and requires the individual to remain in a stationary position, whether sitting or standing, before a desk or other fixed workspace, most of their workday. In addition, this position requires the individual to occasionally move about their workspace to access and inspect work-related materials, such as file cabinets with physical files and standard office equipment. This position requires the ability to operate standard office equipment, including, but not limited to, a laptop, keyboard, mouse, webcam, and phone, as well as effectively communicate information and ideas to a wide variety of audiences in written and oral form.
