Role Overview:
Genus PLC has an exciting opportunity. We are looking for a Data Catalog Architect to lead the data catalog program at Genus. The position is located remotely. The Data Catalog Architect has primary accountability for the continued implementation and roadmap of the Genus Data Catalog. This role defines, implements, and manages all aspects of the catalog design, stewardship policy, and governance of the various databases and data assets across Genus as it relates to the catalog. This role involves collaborating with stakeholders to understand business needs, translating these needs into technical requirements, and ensuring the successful enabled for inclusion into the Data Catalog.
The successful candidate possesses an analytical mindset with a strong ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues as well as the ability to adapt to rapidly changing technologies and business environments. The candidate has strong leadership and mentorship capabilities and is a strong and influential communicator who builds effective relationships and partnerships with stakeholders. You Will:
- Write and maintain a data roadmap used to plan continued growth of the Genus Data Catalog.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify analytics opportunities and define project scope.
- Write and maintain a Stewardship Policy which promotes the use of the Data Catalog for generating business value, all the while respecting data governance principles.
- Maintain final design authority for a catalog design to optimally represent Genus's data landscape in the catalog.
- Write and maintain a Data Visibility Policy designed to maximize the business value of data usage, all the while respecting Data Governance principles.
- Cross-functionally engage with a team of business stewards to ensure data assets are curated to maximize business value to data users.
- Work cross-functionally with IT, Legal, and Security teams to ensure there is a seamless translation of policies, procedures, and governance into the data catalog.
- Act as the final authority over permissions in the data catalog.
- Influence peers and Senior Leaders through demonstration of ability to articulate roadmaps, functionality, and clear organizational benefits of the data catalog implementation, as supported by data and KPIs.
- Remain current with emerging technologies and industry trends, integrating relevant advancements into analytics solutions.
- Uphold the Genus core values, mission, vision, and behavioral competencies.
- May be required to work outside of normal business hours.
- Perform other projects and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:
Basic Qualifications: (required)
- University Degree in STEM-related field of study
- A minimum of 5 years of experience working in or leading cross functional teams or projects
- Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications:
- Deep understanding of the agricultural biotechnology space
- Experience directly leading high performing teams
- Prior leadership responsibility for business and IT stewards related to BI, metadata, data quality or governance.
- Experience leading teams consisting of both business and IT personnel.
- Experience defining enterprise standards, processes, and procedures.
