Job description

Weekly outpatient therapy isn't always enough, and a trip to the ER isn't the only answer. Patients and their families rely on Compass Health Center when in crisis – every day, we help people overcome depression, anxiety, suicidality, obsessions/compulsions, trauma, chronic pain, and other obstacles in order for our patients to live freely.

About This Role 

The Director of Continuing Education and University Partnerships will be a pivotal leader in Compass Health Center's new patient admissions, educational and talent acquisition strategies. This external-facing role is tasked with centralizing the management of Continuing Education (CE) programs, implementing advanced tracking systems to streamline operations, and expanding offerings to include a broader spectrum of professions including psychologists, social workers, nurses, counselors, MDs, and educators.

This role will strengthen university partnerships to develop collaborative programs, facilitate research opportunities, expedite referral processes, and build a strong pipeline for interns and early-career professionals. As a key member of cross-departmental initiatives, the Director will align educational strategy with marketing and outreach efforts, driving brand visibility, community engagement, and measurable growth.

What You'll Do:

  • Continuing Education Program Leadership
    • Oversee all CE programs, including content creation with the Center of Excellence, presenter selection, scheduling, and compliance with licensing requirements.
    • Expand ability to provide CE offerings in new states and enhance current programs to meet professional development needs for including psychologists, social workers, nurses, counselors, MDs, and educators. Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to develop innovative and engaging CE content, focusing on Compass’s specialty programs (e.g., OCD, MHSUD, Trauma, Under 18, Young Adult Virtual care).
    • Implement technology solutions, including learning management systems (LMS), to streamline program delivery across live, hybrid, and self-paced formats.
    • Develop and maintain compliance with state and national licensing boards for CE accreditation.
  • University Partnership Development
    • Identify and develop strategic partnerships with universities to foster collaborative educational programs, research initiatives, and referral pipelines, including partnerships with university medical centers, student counseling centers, behavioral health clinics, schools of medicine and social work, intern placement offices, career services, and university marketing and community relations departments, etc.
    • Partner with Outreach team to represent Compass Health Center at career fairs, conferences, and university events to attract top talent.
    • Partner with academic institutions to create warm introductions for internship opportunities, promoting the concept to talent and development offices, and facilitating program integration while highlighting the career development benefits for participants.
  • Event and Community Engagement
    • Plan and execute high-impact educational events, workshops, and seminars in collaboration with Marketing and Outreach teams to align with broader brand goals.
    • Develop co-branded initiatives (e.g., research collaborations, joint events) with universities and professional organizations to enhance community reach and engagement.
  • Talent Acquisition and Development
    • Collaborate with HR to integrate interns and new graduates into Compass programs, ensuring a strong talent pipeline.
    • Collaborate with HR to develop onboarding and professional development programs for interns and early-career professionals.
  • Brand Leadership in Mental Health Education
    • Elevate Compass Health Center’s reputation as a leader in mental health education by leveraging CE programs and university partnerships.
    • Promote Compass’s educational initiatives through public speaking, publishing opportunities, and conference participation.
    • Partner with marketing and outreach team to highlight educational accomplishments and impact through digital and traditional media.
  • Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
    • Event Attendance:
      • Increase attendance at Compass-sponsored CE events by 15% annually.
      • Achieve a 65% attendance rate for registered participants.
    • Referral Growth:
      • Generate a 5% increase in patient referrals through CE programs and university partnerships.
      • Implement systems to track referrals originating from CE participants and university collaborations.
    • Contact Growth:
      • Expand Compass’s professional network by adding 250 new contacts annually through CE programs and university outreach in IL, 100 new contacts in MD, VA, DC and 30% new contacts for new state expansions through promotion of CE events.
    • University Relations:
      • Establish partnerships with 15+ high-value universities across IL, MD, WI, and MN.
      • Develop expedited referral pathways with at least 3 universities and define the standards for "University Partner" status.
    • CE Program Growth:
      • Increase the number of CE programs offered annually by 20%, expanding into new professional audiences such as MDs, nurses, and educators.
    • Co-Branded Initiatives:
      • Identify and cultivate opportunities for joint events, university-sponsored media, and co-branded campaigns to expand reach and enhance brand awareness.
      • Develop a pipeline to feature Compass's Subject Matter Experts in speaking engagements, publications, and collaborative content initiatives.

Who You Are:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Education, Public Health, or related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 15 years of experience in education program management, outreach, or related roles.
  • Experience in the healthcare or mental health industry is a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Strong project management and organizational skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
    • Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders, including university leaders and healthcare professionals.
    • Proficiency in event planning and educational program delivery.
    • Familiarity with CRM systems and learning management platforms.
  • This role requires occasional travel to university campuses, conferences, and CE event locations.
  • Flexibility for occasional evening or weekend work to accommodate events or deadlines.

This range includes multiple career path levels across the organization; where you fall in the range is dependent upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, your years of experience, type of experience, location, and education/certifications. Compass reserves the right to update these ranges.

This role may also be eligible for an annual bonus which is dependent upon individual and company performance.
