** This position will ideally be based in Austin, TX out of our headquarters office and be hybrid in office 3-4 days a week. Candidates based in other geographies across the U.S. will also be considered for a remote role. **

Job Summary:  
The Sr. Director/Vice President of Hospital Operations is a senior leadership role responsible for supporting operational excellence and establishing, implementing and communicating the strategic direction of the organization. This role focuses on enhancing the efficiency, effectiveness, and alignment of field team leadership to achieve company goals. This role will support operational leadership, provide strategic guidance to field teams, and ensure cross-departmental collaboration to deliver exceptional outcomes for the company’s patients, clients, and teams.  This role acts as the "air traffic control" at the support center, coordinating with field leaders and various functions to develop and implement programs and initiatives that drive operational excellence and enhance customer experience. 

Responsibilities:  
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute operational strategies that align with the company's overall goals and objectives. Collaborate with senior leadership to set and achieve long-term goals.
  • Program Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create and roll out initiatives that improve store performance and customer satisfaction. Maintain a strong focus on enhancing the client experience through operational excellence and innovative solutions.
  • Operational Oversight & Field Coordination: Monitor and manage the day-to-day operations of all hospital locations, ensuring consistency and efficiency. Work closely with field leaders to understand their needs and challenges, providing support and resources to help them achieve their targets.
  • Performance Management & Budget Management: Analyze operational data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement. Implement corrective actions as needed. Work with Finance to oversee budgeting and financial planning for hospital operations, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
  • Compliance and Standards: Ensure all hospitals comply with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Ensure that all operations comply with relevant regulations and safety standards.
  • Talent Development: Identify and develop future leaders within the hospital operations team, providing training and growth opportunities.
  • Project Selection & Governance: Develop standard project selection criteria to prioritize projects in the pipeline based on strategic goals, resource availability, and potential ROI. Define and implement methodologies and a governance framework including risk management, change control, resourcing, and quality assurance processes.
  • Process Improvement & Operational Decisions: Identify, recommend, and implement new operations processes and tools to improve and streamline organizational processes and use of resources and materials. Ensure that operational decisions and project plans are in line with the organization's business plan and vision.
  • Liaison Role & Communication: Serve as a liaison between field operations and executive leadership, providing regular updates on performance, challenges, and opportunities for innovation. Facilitate communication and alignment between field teams and support office to maintain consistency and effectiveness in delivering high-quality veterinary care.
  • Scalability & Sustainability: Ensure operations are scalable, sustainable, and aligned with long-term business growth, particularly in a multi-location environment.
  • Field Team Support & Continuous Improvement: Provide guidance and support to field team leadership, ensuring they have the resources and information needed to perform effectively. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and uphold exceptional care standards.
  • KPI Monitoring & Budget Management: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics to identify areas for improvement, including patient outcomes, client satisfaction, and team engagement. Help to manage the operations budget, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively and that expenditures are within budget.
  • Project Leadership: Lead and oversee various operational projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget. Coordinate with other departments as needed. 
Key Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field. MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in operations, preferably within the veterinary or healthcare industry, with a focus on multi-location field team management.
  • Demonstrated success in driving operational efficiency and implementing strategic initiatives that prioritize patient care and team well-being.
  • Experience managing large, geographically dispersed teams in a service-oriented industry.
Essential Skills: 
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and influence teams at all levels
  • Proficiency in operational analytics, process optimization, and project management
  • Proven ability to adapt to dynamic business environments and lead through change
  • Proficiency in data analysis, financial and performance metrics. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively across all functions and levels within the organization. 
  • Adaptable and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.  

Additional Information:  

  • Location: Support Center in Austin with frequent travel to hospital locations.
  • Reports to Chief Operating Officer (COO).
