Job description

 

Penguin Random House is hiring a Senior Associate to join the Advertising team and support the Random House Children’s Books (RHCB) division. As an ideal candidate, you are familiar with current media channels and advertising options, with experience working directly with ad partners. You’ll serve as a strategic partner to title marketers and provide support and best practices as we continue to grow our centralized advertising operations. The media buyer will be joining the Paid Media Strategy and Ad Operations team, a collaborative and innovative team dedicated to paid media planning, execution, and optimization; and to staying on top of the latest trends and vendors in an ever-changing advertising landscape. 

 

Responsibilities:    

  • Collaborate closely with the marketers on the RHCB marketing team, establishing a deep understanding of their marketing goals and publishing list, and actively participating in planning meetings by contributing thoughtful and informed recommendations  
  • Work in partnership with Ad Operations and Performance Marketing team counterparts to develop and execute impactful and effective campaigns for RHCB’s frontlist and backlist titles  
  • Actively plan and manage dozens of paid media campaigns in multiple stages of execution at any given time, directly with multiple ad partners across various channels 
  • Build and manage relationships with PRH’s major ad partners, staying on top of latest product offerings and developments, and sharing updates with fellow media buyers and divisional marketers  
  • Research and meet with potential new vendors as we continue seek to expand our partnerships, overseeing a smooth onboarding process for new partners by coordinating efforts with finance and data teams as necessary 
  • Negotiate terms for insertion orders, secure signatures, communicate specs and timelines, and traffic all necessary materials to ad partners on schedule  
  • Ensure partners have a clear understanding of our marketing goals and KPIs, and that it’s reflected in the campaign reports they deliver  
  • Work with the Performance Marketing team to review campaign performance and provide analysis to better inform future strategy  
  • Ensure implementation of ad operations requirements and best practices for campaigns, including tracking, tagging, and campaign set-up  
  • Work closely with other media buyers on the team and contribute to a supportive culture of learning and growth 

 

Requirements:    

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in media buying, marketing, or similar role     
  • Familiarity with the current advertising landscape and in the language of digital marketing metrics and online measurement (CTR, CPM, ROAS, etc.)    
  • Experience managing multiple campaigns at different stages of execution   
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills   
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to network and build relationships virtually 
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail   
  • Ability to assess and prioritize workload and work independently, utilizing effective time management skills   
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple teams concurrently 
  • Ability to analyze performance data and extract actionable insights to inform campaign plans  
  • Interest in children’s and young adult literature a plus

The team applies a performance-driven approach to campaign strategy and optimization, managing campaigns from set-up to reporting. The salary for this position is $61,000. All positions are currently eligible for an annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
