Job Summary:
The Operations Manager leads and manages the people and operations of the lab. This role includes business and operational leadership, interviewing & hiring of team members, coaching, payroll, performance management, and project management. The Operations Manager works closely with other department leaders to promote an environment of continuous improvement. This role plays a vital role in fostering a positive culture through collaboration, proactive problem solving, and demonstration of our core values.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the overall effective delivery of patient cases to customers according to contract requirements, quality standards, and productivity standards.
- Proven ability to lead and manage a team of both direct and indirect reports.
- Provides coaching, training, and mentoring of direct reports.
- Primary oversight of the interviewing and hiring process of technical and non-technical staff.
- Responsible for ensuring accurate payroll records.
- Successfully defines the goals and performance management processes for the lab.
- Collaborates closely with other 3DR divisions that intersect with operational delivery.
- Demonstrated successes in business acumen, systems integrations, and change management.
- Responsible for capacity management of all operational resources to meet the 24/7, 365 operational commitments.
- Works side by side with the Operations Administrative Manager to effectively identify opportunities and implement changes to support the achievement of 3DR’s strategic, financial, and operational objectives.
- Foster a culture of trust, engagement, accountability, and innovation.
- All other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Experience leading people and teams, preferably in a role with direct and indirect reports.
- Strong critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience with advanced writing activities including policy, job descriptions, and organization-wide communication.
- Strong leadership skills including conflict management.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and align decision making with overall key business drivers.
- This position may involve working non-traditional hours including evenings and weekends and occasional holidays to ensure continuation of operations.
Desired Education and Experience:
- Preferred bachelor’s degree in healthcare, operational management, business, or related field. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Previous leadership experience required.
- Preferred experience in a healthcare setting.
- Experience in process improvement, including Lean/Six Sigma methodologies, is preferred.
- Strong preference is given to candidates with experience in large scope operations, people management, and project management.
Supervisory Requirements:
- Direct oversight of 8 – 12 supervisors. The department has 150+ team members that include direct and indirect reports.
