Job description

Autism Speaks is seeking a Content and Resources Coordinator to work with us part-time, temporarily for approximately 20 hours per week at $25 per hour.   This assignment would be for a minimum of three (3) months, potentially longer.   The individual will work from home and can be located anywhere in the US.

Autism Speaks is dedicated to promoting solutions, across the spectrum and throughout the lifespan, for the needs of individuals with autism and their families through advocacy and support; increasing understanding and acceptance of autism spectrum disorder; and advancing research into causes and better interventions for autism spectrum disorder and related conditions.

The Content Coordinator supports Services and Supports’ portfolio of content and resources to address the diverse needs of the autism community. This position will assist in content creation, editing and promotion and include research, fact-checking, and developing digital content and promotions.


Primary Responsibilities:
  • Assist in development and promotion of Services and Supports resources, web content, and digital messaging.  
  • Research, draft and fact-check content.
  • Prepare content for delivery in multiple formats and across multimedia platforms.
  • Ensure accessibility of Services and Supports content and resources including available formats, multiple languages, reading levels, and cultural experiences.
  • Develop social media promotions for Services and Supports content for various channels.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS 

Education:  Bachelor’s degree with concentration in Marketing, Communications or Journalism preferred

Experience:
  • 2+ years of website publishing experience mandatory; experience with digital publishing tools (ex: Foleon), content management systems (Drupal, WordPress or similar), PDF creators and website analytic tools necessary
  • Strong writing and content development skills necessary; communication or journalism experience preferred
  • Demonstrated writing ability through either writing samples (3) or a simple writing test
  • Proficiency in Excel including use of formulas and formatting data required
  • Knowledge of autism required and experience with individuals with autism and their families highly preferred
  • Experience with e-learning development a plus
  • Spanish-language proficiency a plus
Specialized Skills and Knowledge
  • Excellent written communication skills and ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Detail oriented, highly organized, ability to work independently with minimal supervisor and to proactively track and report project progress.
  • Solid project tracking and data management skills and a high level of proficiency in MS Office especially Microsoft Excel.
