This role in a nutshell:
Working in the Indirect Squad within the Growth domain, you’d join our other Front End, Backend & Full Stack Engineers building amazing products for OVO customers as part of the partnerships sales channel.
We currently have a vacancy for an experienced Fullstack Engineer with a passion for taking ownership, driving progress towards architectural goals & working collaboratively with engineers, QA’s & product alike.

Your key outcomes will be:
- Designing, building and maintaining scalable solutions.
- Working with Cloud infrastructure - primarily AWS but with experience in GCP.
- Working in an Agile multi-disciplinary team where you will have the opportunity to influence technology selection.
- Establishing and advocating for good engineering standard methodologies within the squad.
- Contributing to automated testing efforts.
- Utilising monitoring and alerting tools.
- Employing CI/CD standard processes for production releases.
- Influence architecture with strong system design knowledge
- Mentoring junior members of the team - inclusive of those supplied by our resource partners.
- Working with key stakeholders, both from ops, commercial & product, to understand their needs and help deliver solutions that provide them with excellent user experiences.
You’ll be a successful Software Engineer at OVO if you…
- Have a strong track record in designing, building, monitoring, and evolving billing applications.
- Highly motivated learner who loves keeping up to date with the latest advances.
- Solid experience with AWS API gateways & Lambda’s.
- Hands-on experience in developing cloud-based solutions across AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Excellent command of Typescript, React, Node.js & SQS
- A deep understanding of the best engineering practices, including continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD).
- Experience of Scrum & Kanban frameworks.
- Passion for crafting scalable, resilient solutions that are observable. Experience with Datadog is beneficial.
- Comfortability working in an agile development setting with frequent release cycles, paired with experience in pair programming, CI/CD, and strategic deployment approaches.

We’ll pay you between £64,000 and £84,000, depending on your specific skills and experience.
We keep our pay ranges broad on purpose to give us, and you, flexibility to match your experience to our zero carbon mission.
You’ll be eligible for an on-target bonus of 15%. We have one OVO bonus plan that focuses on the collective performance of our people to deliver our Plan Zero goal.
