Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Surplus Lines Tax Analyst to join our team. DOXA does surplus lines processing for ten of our business units and that number will continue to grow. In this role, you will be responsible for managing surplus lines tax filings and ensuring compliance with state regulations.  The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess strong analytical skills, and have a keen eye for accuracy.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Surplus Lines Tax Management:
    • Process surplus lines tax transactions for all states, including affidavit processing, policy forwarding, and transaction logging.
    • Complete and file tax reports (monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual), ensuring accuracy and meeting filing deadlines.
    • Reconcile discrepancies between tax reports and documentation, collaborating with production teams to resolve invoicing errors.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Research, monitor, and implement changes to comply with state surplus lines requirements.
    • Ensure compliance with all guidelines for non-admitted transactions.
    • Assist in state audits or inquiries by verifying transactions, documents, and filings.
  • Internal Reporting:
    • Update the various DOXA internal systems and databases with tax filing statuses for each transaction.
    • Communicate surplus lines tax payment amounts to the accounting team for accurate recording. 
Requirements

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Minimum of five (5) years insurance industry experience 
  • Proven  experience in surplus lines tax filings or a similar compliance-focused role.
  • Familiarity with state surplus lines regulations and licensing requirements is preferred.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent  communication skills to collaborate with internal teams and external entities.
  • Solid understanding of insurance terms, definitions, and processes
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment
  • Four-year college degree strongly preferred
