Role Summary

Hours: 40 h per week
Salary range: up to 8500 BRL gross per month (CLT) + Meal and Food voucher + Health Insurance

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Food and Nutrition Project Manager plays a crucial role in our mission, by working with a myriad of institutions, encouraging and guiding them towards healthier and more sustainable catering, among other initiatives. The position also involves coordinating and providing training about the health benefits of plant-based diets, and the impact of our food system on climate and public health.

You will be responsible for managing, planning, developing, and monitoring key programmes in Brazil related to Food and Nutrition. You will work closely with the Brazilian Executive Director, as well as the Brazilian and international teams, in implementing the department’s projects, as well as in correlated fundraising activities. 

The ideal candidate has solid knowledge of plant-based diets (notably of its health benefits), great communication skills, and competence in prioritising and working proactively. They are self-motivated and trustworthy, and have impeccable attention to detail.
Responsibilities
  • Leading the planning, development, and implementation of Food and Nutrition programs in Brazil.
  • Prospecting institutions willing to reduce their animal product purchases/offerings.
  • Collaborating with various institutions to promote healthier and more sustainable catering practices.
  • Conducting training sessions on the health benefits of plant-based diets for a diverse audience.
  • Developing educational materials and resources related to nutrition and sustainability.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the impact of programs and initiatives on public health and climate.
  • Preparing reports and presentations.
  • Facilitating partnerships with local, national, and international organizations in the food sector.
  • Staying updated on trends and research related to food systems, nutrition, and climate change.
  • Organizing workshops, seminars, and events to raise awareness about plant-based diets.
  • Assisting in fundraising efforts by providing relevant information and supporting documentation, including also actively looking for potential donors and funders.
  • This role may require the development of other correlated activities, according to the organization's needs and strategy.
Qualifications
  • A degree in nutrition or equivalent, with sound knowledge of plant-based diets, is essential.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Portuguese are essential.
  • 2+ years of experience in effectively running campaigns and/or programmes that have led to behavioural change.
  • Experience of working with public institutions, such as local authorities, schools, hospitals, etc is desirable.
  • Experience of carrying out accurate and referenced research in order to develop/scope/enhance campaigns and programmes.
  • Effective relationship building skills, with a proven ability to engage stakeholders across all levels, backgrounds and seniority levels.
  • Strong organisational, planning and coordinating skills, as well as the ability to effectively manage multiple projects and demands from varying sources simultaneously.
  • Excellent attention to detail, and an ability to balance short-term priorities with long-term goals and strategies.
  • Ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced nonprofit work environment.
  • Strong collaboration and excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to thrive in a team of people from diverse backgrounds, while also being able to work independently.
  • Availability to travel nationally and internationally.
  • Willingness to speak at events, presentations, panels, and to the press.
