Job Title:
Remote VP, Clinical Strategy (MD or DO)

Job Description:

Position Summary:

The VP of Clinical Strategy will be integral to driving the development and execution of clinical programs aimed at improving health outcomes for high-risk populations, with a particular focus on senior care and Medicare populations in a value-based care organization. The VP will work closely with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and other senior leaders to define, build, implement, and evaluate innovative clinical strategies that advance the care of high-risk patients. This is a high-impact role that will influence both clinical and financial outcomes for our members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Strategy Development & Opportunity Assessment: Lead clinical strategy formulation for high-impact programs targeting seniors, particularly in high-risk patient care and transitions of care. Identify new program opportunities, assess clinical needs, and develop actionable plans to enhance care management and improve health outcomes.
  • Program Development, Implementation, & Evaluation: Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of clinical programs, including development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous iteration. Lead efforts to ensure programs are aligned with organizational goals and deliver measurable improvements in patient outcomes and care efficiency.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Partnership: Partner with key internal teams, including Finance, Analytics, Operations, Training, and other stakeholders, to build robust modeling and evaluation frameworks. Ensure clinical strategies are integrated with financial and operational models to achieve sustainable outcomes.
  • Clinical Leadership & Executive Engagement: Work closely with the CMO and other executive team members to ensure alignment and buy-in for clinical strategies. Provide clinical expertise and leadership across the organization to drive key initiatives and ensure that programs are executed effectively.
  • Team Development & Leadership: Lead, grow, and mentor a team of clinical leaders and program managers. Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture while scaling resources as new programs and partnerships are developed and implemented.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

  • Clinical Training & Strategy Consulting Expertise: An MD or DO with top-tier consulting experience (e.g., McKinsey, BCG, or equivalent) or internal strategy leadership experience. A strong foundation in clinical practice, including residency and direct patient care experience.
  • Passion for Health Outcomes & Clinical Innovation: A deep passion for improving health outcomes in economically sustainable ways, with a focus on clinical innovation and the development of new care models. Experience in leading or contributing to clinical program innovations.
  • Experience in Population Health Management: 10-15 years of post-graduate experience, including direct experience in leading clinical program development, implementation, and assessment at a multi-region or national scale. Familiarity with population health management models, particularly in Medicare and senior care.
  • Financial & Clinical Integration: Strong understanding of population clinical and financial drivers within full-risk models. Comfortable balancing clinical needs with financial sustainability in value-based care settings.
  • Senior Care Expertise: Hands-on experience with care management programs and models in senior care, particularly Medicare, including transitions of care, high-risk patient management, and chronic care management.
  • Strategic Planning & Stakeholder Alignment: Proven ability to execute strategic planning and align diverse senior stakeholders across multiple functional areas to achieve program goals and drive organizational success.
