This is a remote role with on-site requirements for initial training and periodic meetings in the office located in Hamilton, NJ throughout the year. Active New Jersey Medical Assistant Certification required

OVERVIEW:

The Medical Assistant provides support services under direction of Case Managers in processing Workers’ Compensation claims.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Handles incoming calls from claimants, providers, adjusters and employers.
Coordinates appointments i.e. diagnostics, PT, providers and DME.
Monitors compliance in appointment attendance.
Documents appointments scheduled and provider contact for requests of information.
Assists Case Managers with return to work activities, i.e. secure job descriptions, RTW confirmation, etc.
Communicate with adjusters via telephone and e-mail on a daily basis.
Print and review diary in AM and PM.
Obtain high priority medical treatment documentation for lost time and complicated medical only files, i.e. quick note, office note, letters, etc.
Contact attorneys regarding appointment coordination.
Coordinate high priority appointments such as one time evaluations, second opinions and need for treat evaluations.

KNOWLEDGE:

Managed care related to Workers’ Compensation injuries.
Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health-care measures.
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.

SKILLS:

Must be able to operate computer, telephone, calculator, fax, scanner and printer.
Strong interpersonal skills, communication and presentation skills.
Must be detailed oriented.
Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
Consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.

CERTIFICATION:

Active New Jersey Medical Assistant Certification required
National Certification preferred.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and TRAINING:

High School Diploma required.
College Diploma preferred.
Medical background required.
Worker's Compensation experience preferred.
Two plus years of Medical / Health-Related Experience required.
Excellent communication skills, Computer Skills required.
