Avant – Part of Real Chemistry – is a leader in peer-to-peer marketing for pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, creating comprehensive communication strategies and plans that deliver superior medical and health education to healthcare professionals across multiple channels.

We are looking for an Account Director to join our growing team! The Account Director (AD) will operate as the strategic lead for the peer-to-peer channel, including assisting brand partners with the development and management of their tactical plan. The main focus of this individual is to provide strategic leadership to the Avant/DWA team and account that meets or exceeds clients' expectations by providing peer-to-peer best practices and innovative recommendations and measurements to move our partners’ brands forward. In addition, this individual will oversee and provide management, direction, and support to the Account Executives (AEs) and Project Administrators (PAs) within their strategic account(s).

This role will be a hybrid remote position based in Indianapolis.

What You’ll Do

  • Drive strategic partnerships with clients via an advanced understanding of brand strategy and demonstrate learning agility to be proficient in strategic assignments
  • Command a working knowledge of the concept, structure, and value of peer-to-peer education
  • Provide peer-to-peer channel insights and recommendations
  • Develop a forecast for the peer-to-peer channel (business plan)
  • Lead the strategic direction of the peer-to-peer programs
  • Establish measurements for tactics determined by the brand
  • Adjust strategies based on market dynamics as well as competitor activities and products
  • Adjust strategies based on ROI or ROE of tactics
  • Consult, analyze, and interpret data as it relates to the peer-to-peer channel
  • Command a working knowledge of general brand management
  • Capture learnings and provide feedback into mix and channel strategy
  • Actively participate in the brand planning process as requested
  • Provide strategic guidance to internal teams as necessary throughout project execution in order to have effective medical, legal, and regulatory reviews
  • Must understand the importance of and have demonstrated proficiency in managing the needs of the client
  • Provide status updates to the brand
  • Maintain ongoing client relationships throughout Avant projects and beyond
  • Seek new business opportunities and lead proposal development
  • Be recognized within Avant and among clients as an expert in understanding pharmaceutical/biotech marketing
  • Demonstrate proficiency in supervising a staff of AEs and PAs; understand the significance and responsibility associated with being a leader of business and people within an organization
  • Collaborate with your supervisor to forecast resources and assign appropriate staff
  • Establish clear performance goals and provide regular feedback at 1:1s, including ongoing informal and formal performance reviews
  • Ensure complete understanding of the AE and PA roles and the career path model and provide opportunities for professional development
  • Provide oversight and consult to AEs and PAs as it relates to project execution, including budget management
  • Be familiar with Avant core service offerings as it relates to project leadership in order to coach effectively
  • Contribute to Avant SOPs, including corporate (PMI) and Lean Six Sigma practices
  • Liaise with Human Resources by contributing to the new hire interview process (when applicable)
  • Maintain an advanced, current working knowledge of contract compliance and federal/state regulations in order to: provide functional compliance requirements, answer questions, and give direction; monitor staff with adherence to compliance policies and procedures and engage in compliance investigations, if warranted
  • Submit and approve timely and accurate time and expense reports
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management
  • Work schedule/hours: work occasional nonstandard work hours as workload demands
  • Travel: this position may require moderate overnight/weekend travel (up to 50%)
  • Participate in sales field rides, speaker programs, advisory boards, customer meetings, and professional organization meetings, as requested

  • BA/BS required, MBA preferred
  • 3-5+ years in pharmaceutical/biotech marketing
  • 3-5+ years of experience in strategic planning preferred
  • 3-5+ years of experience in project management preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in budget management preferred
  • 3+ years of project team leadership experience preferred
  • Previous management or supervisory experience preferred

Pay Range: $110,000 - $125,000
