The VP of Enterprise Architecture is responsible for defining and executing the technology transformation and architectural roadmap to modernize our legacy systems and implement new solutions on a scalable, modern stack. This role will provide visionary leadership across the organization’s technology landscape, addressing technical debt, optimizing system architectures, and ensuring alignment with business objectives. The VP of Enterprise Architecture will work closely with IT and business leaders to drive the organization’s digital transformation, foster an innovation-friendly culture, and implement robust, future-ready systems.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not have direct reports but will lead and mentor IT teams, working closely with senior leaders across departments to guide and influence architecture strategies.
Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Technology Roadmap Development: Lead the design and implementation of a technology roadmap that supports the modernization of legacy systems and development of new solutions on a modern stack.
- Enterprise Transformation: Architect a sustainable, adaptable technology ecosystem that addresses technical debt and aligns with business objectives.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with technology and business leaders to identify, prioritize, and map necessary architectural improvements, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing: Mentor IT staff in modern software development practices and new technology frameworks to foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
- Architectural Oversight: Establish and lead an Architecture Review Board to ensure that all solutions align with best practices, and introduce an ideation and incubation function to explore and validate new technology patterns.
- Hands-On Solution Design: Provide technical leadership and hands-on development when needed, supporting transformation efforts by designing and coding solutions.
- Operational Continuity: Develop strategies to maintain IT operations continuity throughout transformation initiatives.
- Progress Reporting: Regularly present transformation progress, roadblocks, and outcomes to executive leadership to maintain transparency and alignment.
- Technical Exploration: Conduct proof of concepts (PoCs) and pilot programs to assess the viability and impact of new technologies and design patterns.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Enterprise Architecture & Transformation Expertise: Proven experience in designing and executing large-scale technology transformations with a strong understanding of modern architectures, cloud integration, and scalable system design.
- Communication & Leadership: Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including C-suite executives.
- Technical Proficiency: Hands-on expertise in both modern and legacy technology stacks:
- Front-End Technologies: React.js, Angular, Vue.js
- Back-End Technologies: Node.js, Java/Spring Boot, .NET Core
- Database Technologies: SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL), NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra), Cloud Databases (AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database)
- Legacy System Knowledge: Familiarity with legacy technologies such as C#, C++, VB6, and the experience to re-architect client-server applications into modern solutions.
- Team Mentorship: Strong background in coaching and mentoring IT staff, with a demonstrated ability to build high-performing, cross-functional teams.
- Problem-Solving & Adaptability: Excellent analytical skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT, with at least 5 years in an enterprise architecture leadership role.
- Demonstrated success in leading digital transformation initiatives across large organizations.

- TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework)
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
- ITIL Certification
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
- Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional (AWS)
Travel Requirements:
Travel required approximately one week per month to collaborate with on-site and field resources.
Pay: $200,000-$250,000 annually
