A Day in the Life
In this exciting role as a Strategic Account Manager Benelux, you are responsible for driving long-term value creation through strategic relationship management and solution-based selling. You will act as the strategic partner, focusing on delivering business outcomes, fostering innovation, and building long-term partnerships with our key customers. You will have responsibility for developing Administrative and C-Suite relationships, and driving Medtronic product and service revenue and market share by developing specific strategies that leverage the breadth of Medtronic’s portfolio while delivering unique value to meet the account’s needs. You will be accountable for building and leading cross-functional team collaboration across the Operating Units, Integrated Health Solutions (IHS), functions and Centers of Excellence understanding the value of Medtronic products and services, and negotiating on behalf of Medtronic.
You will join a “start-up” in a big corporation, supporting transformational change regarding selling and customer value approach. You will report to the Senior Director Enterprise Account & IHS Benelux. You are expected to travel across the Netherlands and Belgium.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
- Strategic account planning: develop and execute integrated, multi-year account strategies that focus on long-term value creation for both the enterprise and the customer. Conduct business reviews, identify new opportunities, and coordinate across internal operating units (OUs) to align on strategies
- Customer-centric solution selling: shift from product sales to delivering comprehensive business outcomes, such as optimizing patient outcomes and improving cost-efficiency in healthcare. Engage in consultative sales deeply rooted in industry expertise and customer-specific business goals
- Relationship building: establish and nurture senior-level relationships (e.g. C-Suite, heads of procurement) beyond the traditional buyer or engineering contracts. Expand relationships to include key stakeholders like Chief Operating Officers (COOS), Chief Marketing Officers (CMOS), and Chief Information Officers (CIOS)
- Collaboration and coordination: lead collaboration across various departments (e.g. OUs, IHS, legal, finance, Supply Chain/Operations, Cardiac Rhythm Management) to ensure smooth solution delivery and create mutual value. Own the account strategy and ensure alignment of all key functions throughout the sales and post-sale process
Required Knowledge and Experience:
- Bachelor or Master degree in business, science, medicine or equivalent
- Strong strategic, consultative selling experience and deep healthcare industry knowledge
- Minimum of 7 years of complex sales experience for a bachelor’s degree or minimum 5 years with an advanced degree. Demonstrating strong business management experience in senior and complex roles
- Previous experience working in a regulated industry in Medical Device, Healthcare or Technology sector or within consulting firms
- Demonstrate tenacity in navigating long and ambiguous sales cycles, adapting quickly to customer changes and circumstances
- Fluency in Dutch and English
