Job description

Senior Scala Engineer with ZIO


We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Scala Engineer to join our team. This is a fully remote role, available to candidates based in Europe. You will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge data engineering products, tackle challenges in the cyber intelligence industry, and develop large-scale projects from scratch.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain batch and real-time data processing systems within an agile framework.
  • Implement APIs, streaming services, and high-throughput data processing systems.
  • Optimize queries and data layouts across both relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Collaborate on resolving production issues and improving system performance.
  • Explore and integrate next-generation technologies within the Scala ecosystem.
  • Design and deliver solutions across various stages of the software development lifecycle.
  • Write and review high-quality, functional Scala code to enhance the product's value.


Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 4+ years in Scala, with a strong understanding of functional programming.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in Scala’s modern functional stack (e.g., Cats, Cats Effect, ZIO).
  • Expertise in relational (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (Elasticsearch, S3) databases.
  • Familiarity with microservice architecture and REST API development.
  • Hands-on experience with Docker containers or Kubernetes.
  • Understanding of Test-Driven Development (TDD).
  • Soft Skills:
  • Strong communication skills, with fluency in English for daily collaboration.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to challenges.
